Hi all, I'm back! So I'm happy to say that I've been smoke-free for 5 months. However, I still have a big problem though, I continue to cough on & off during the day, but my biggest problem is waking up @ 3 or 4 am to use the bathroom ,then the endless coughing begins. Soon after the 20 minute coughing fit is over, I hear loud wheezing in my chest. The wheezing is so loud and annoying, that I'm unable to fall back asleep. This endless cycle is starting to take it's toll on me and I don't know what to do to minimise it or get rid of it. I heard fresh lemon juice , mixed with water and a bit of honey works, or if someone is brave enough, just bite in the the lemon wedges. Can someone, anyone please please help me. I can;t go on much longer like this, I'm burning out from lack of sleep and I'm scared wondering with all this coughing, if its causing harm to myself or if I will ever get a normal voice back.
Much appreciated, Penny

Hi and Thank you droopy. Yes have been to Gp as well as walk-in clinic...The clinic prescribed 3 different inhalers to help with the chest problem. My gp didn't agree that taking all 3 was necessary since I do not have a lung disease and that they do more harm than good and I should stop taking them, She did say it was ok to take the salbutomal if I get shortness of breathe, anyway I see her in 2 days. Also I'm going to stop drinking anything with dairy for awhile and do the lemon concoction, Now that the mild temps have finally arrived, I'm going to take my dog for a brisk walk around the block and that should help get things moving.
Well let's hope it all eases for you soon hun 😊 glad your thinking positively though.... The lemon and honey will help and walking the dog 😊
Good luck with the doc 😊👍🍀
Hi Penny,
I can totally relate to lack of sleep... I can only stay asleep for 3 maybe 4 hours if I'm lucky.. I'm seeing a dr when I get back from Mexico about this.... And as for your cough like droopyj said... You may have a chest infection.... Worth a visit to the doctor🌸🌺🌹🌷
Hi Penny Marie, Like the girls have said get checked out with your GP. It may be a build up of mucus which sets you off coughing. There are lots of medicines out there to help you, or a chest infection. Tell the doctor its affecting your sleeping.
