Had 1 and regret it

Night out for a friends birthday.  3 of my friends who haven't smoked for over 2 years were smoking? I had a few drinks and had 1.

Woke this morning with my mouth dry and disgusting. In a way was good to realise how much I no longer want to smoke

Never again!!

Unfortunately alcohol and quitting can be a bad combination and I would imagine you are certainly not the only person to be caught out by it😩 As you say, it's made ya realise that you DON'T want to smoke and also how easy it is to slip up☹️ Thankfully you only had one and have learned a valuable lesson. Thankyou for your honesty in owning up and we can all learn something from this.

NOPE not one puff ever🚭🚭

Glad to see you're straight back on your quit so well done for that👍🏼😊

Thanks. Properly  annoyed with myself. I constantly have the mantra that I never want to go through a quit again. These 8 weeks have been tough.!!

Quitting has been hard for me as well... You're not alone 😊

Smoking disabilities scared me into quitting

Thanks for posting up Firecrow69. I feel ye. This addiction is a crafty foe. My stress/fear levels have been rising of late and in that mix the absurdity of a smoke can come to mind. One of my signs is noticing people smoking. As awful as that taste is, in the past I've just carried on regardless till I can smoke without retching. Madness. This time I resorted to NRT gum (what I used at the beginning of my quit) and it worked, alongside a; 'don't want to go there'. Thankfully I don't have the alcohol combo temptation but close friends who stop, start, Yes! It's got to be personal with me, on any other terms I'd be susceptible. We keep going, together we can - Well done for getting back onboard immediately; says a lot in itself. Best, iris

Ok Firecrow , it's good that you now realise you don't want one . Don't be too hard on yourself , now you now that you never want one you can be more  determined, and know that you are not missing out. For me I would be scared of having just one as I don't know if I would be like you, knowing me that would be me hooked. Well done for making that descision to carry on. You can do it , stay strong and focused, and we are here to support you x

Done it myself last year Firecrow, couldn't believe how revolting it tasted...like eating the contents of an ashtray (not that I've done that of course!)

It made me realise that we have this idea of how LOVELY that quit-breaking fag will be...but it's nothing like that...it just tasted horrible and made me feel nauseous.

Anyway, glad to hear you're back into the quit.

Quit feeling joyous and glad to be back on it.

Hi ya Firecrow, am soooooo glad you just had the 1 cig and didnt like it :) it would have been soo easy to have had another and another :o But you stayed strong and got right back to your quit and am soooo PROUD of you for that :) :)

NOT ONE PUFF EVER :)

Well don't be hard on yourself. You've come so far, and nothing is worth you going back to being a smoker. I'm happy you didn't like it... To me, that's proof that you truly are done. :)

Oh firecrow that flippin alcohol is the devil in disguise to us non smokers 👹

Firstly you only had the one....... If you ever get the urge again just say... No thanks tried it once and didn't like it💩💩💩💩

Secondly you have continued with your quit.... 😊 It took me years to try again 😟

Thirdly what the flippin eck were your friends thinking of.... 2years quit, are they bonkers???🙀😊

You just continue on your quit and maybe print out your post, laminate it and stick it in your purse as a reminder 😊🚭🚭🚭🚭🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Hi Firecrow,

That's the hardest situation to be in when a few of you all quit smoking and you go out for drinks and someone pulls out a pack of cigarettes....  You have an  awesome quit going... Keep your reason close ❤️🇨🇦

I admire your honesty👍🏻

The thought of a cig is always more delicious than the actual taste. I too have done This in the past and that first cig is always disgusting and not what I thought or wanted it to be.

You are very brave in coming on here and being so honest and for getting right back on your quit. Look forward now and not back. Good luck and a virtual hug.
