I'm so happy I found this site, I gave up smoking 3 weeks, 3 days ago. I've had sore bleeding gums and sore tongue for about a week and decided to google it, I stumbled across this site, have now joined and read some of the posts. I had no idea till now that quitting would cause this. I expected the headaches but not much of anything else. My anxiety level at times is through the roof, this has also been an issue with others on here. Now I know I'm not the ONLY one and that I'm not dying, reading what other people are going through and what's happening to them, I think will make my journey through this process more bearable. Thanks to all, I feel much lighter now π
"Stumbling in": I'm so happy I found this site... - Quit Support
"Stumbling in"
Well done, nearly a month.
This site is awesome, there is so much support and encouragement to help you on the journey.
I think everyone has different withdrawal symptoms and I've found every quit I've done the symptoms have been different.
And I've done lots of quits but this is my last one.
NOPE... Not one puff ever.
Are you using NRT or are you going cold turkey?
Teric x
I've been using the nicorette and nicabate lozenges. Gradually weaning myself off those now, down to 2 - 3 a day. I tried patches years ago, made my skin itch. I think this is the first time I've been seriously ready to quit. I know I can do it this time. Mostly I have tried to do the "Monday" thing!!! This time it was a Wednesday, I got up, made a coffee, had about four cigs, I took my daughter to school and havnt touched coffee or smokes since.
Well done bluestars and welcome π
Yep the flippin withdrawals can be ghastly but it's only our bodies getting its own back of the abuse we have put it through by smoking!! Who can blame it.....π
The pinned posts can be very useful but this site saved me on more than one occasion so keep it close by π
If you let monky know your quit date he'll run around the fields in his pants and catch you a shiny winners badgeπ
Well done you.
You say you are weaning off the lozenges.
I think you shouldn't push yourself too much on that. I have days when I think it's going so well I don't need anything, then the next day I have an awful day.
Mr nic can bite you in the bum when you aren't expecting it
Very crafty
Keep strong and NOPE....

Hi Bluestars, a big warm welcome to our quit support community and look at you gooooo over 3 weeks quit now, WHOOP WHOOP
Yes, I'm afraid your symptoms are quite normal at your stage of quitting When you smoked, you sort of smoked through your gums, so your gums built a sort of hard crust to combat this but now you have quit, your gums no longer need this hard crust so they discard it, this leaves you with sort of baby gum tissue and until it hardens off to your new lifestyle, they will bleed a bit. Have you tried using Corsodyl you can get it from any chemist either mouthwash or toothpaste and maybe a babies toothbrush may help too
Bluestars, I have your quit date down as the 17/2/16 if this is wrong, please let me know and I will adjust it for you
We have a mantra on here - NOPE Not One Puff Ever
Pete
Hi Bluestars π
Great attitude and great quit π
When we quit we just need to give our bodies time to repair and adjust to not having all those toxins breathed into them
It does get easier, and you get to have a new smoke free life π

Not One Puff Everπ·π·π·π·ππππ
Thankyou to everyone for the encouragement, its great to wake up and read all your kind words. I cant believe that in my 47 years after everything I've read and what is advertised, GP visits, friends etc, that theses symptoms are never spoken about???? I don't get it!!!! Anyone that I come across will definitely know about this site. Its good to read all different stages of the journey and have some insight into what to expect!!
Hey Monky, I'm on the South Coast, New South Wales, Australia, I have not come across anything like this site here. Congratualions on your awesomenesss, and everyone else for that matter!!!. My quit date was Wednesday 18th Feb ( 9am). My little 7 yr old and I celebrate this time every Wednesday with a high five!!!
Hi bluestars . Well done on reaching 3 weeks, you are doing fantastic. I myself went through the same symtons, sore gums, headaches, sore throat. Hang on in there it will pass. For me everything started to settle after 4 weeks , sore throat has only just gone. I guess the recovery time is different for all of us, you will just wake up one day and realise hey not got sore throat etc. your doing really well. Lots of people here to support you x
Almost 4 weeks bluestarsπππππππππ keep goin 'ππβ¨βοΈπβ¨βοΈπβ¨βοΈπ
