its 5 degrees here today--better than yesterday but still really cold--we have 2 more days of it--You know I dont want healthy stuff to eat--I had such good self control before I got to this stage--I need to get the "crap" out of the house--lol doin that by eating it--Listen to this--no chips for 3 months and I bought 4 bags--imagine!!! total loss of control--so anyway-Ill get it together--I have to get this medical stuff taken care of too but im moving in a positive direction--Maybe babying myself a little to keep from smoking...I think my body is craving nicotine and food is a substitute--but who knows--all I kno is I will not smoke today... How are you doing dear?

I'm ok, thanks for asking. It's a grey miserable day here but I remind myself that we are lucky in comparison to a lot of other countries where weather is extreme. Just about to start making dinner here๐
I recently started juicing, and the 'smoothie' thing, and found I can drink it by the gallons!!! Just give me a hose! Must (nutritionally) really need the stuff! surprised me: better than a piece of pie!

Briar--will you post some of your smoothie recipes on Healthy Recipes or the basics--so I can give it a try--All Ive ever done is bananas, yogurt--sweet stuff you know--Do they keep your appetite satisfied so you aren't thinking about food all the time and feeling that hollow stomach thing every 2 hrs? Drives me crazy and is uncomfortable--Different from regular hunger--way worse Thanks Madame T

Ok here goes, power breakfast to start๐ช๐๐ป
200ml almond milk or soya milk (ordinary milk will do)
100ml cherry juice (any juice will do)
50g tofu
2 tbsp oats
75g frozen berries
Flaxseed, chia seed or any sprouted seed mix will do
This really packs a huge amount of nutrients in a couple of glasses of deliciousness๐
I call this the GREEN one and you'll see why๐
Avocado, spinach, kale, cucumber, pineapple and coconut water and i just chuck a bit of em all in for this vibrant colour๐
The ORANGE one is 1 carrot, 1 orange, 2 sticks of celery and 50g mango, 200 ml water๐
The RED one is beetroot, apple, blueberries, ginger and water๐
These are just a few combos that I like and really you can throw in so many different ingredients, I'd add walnuts and almonds, figs prunes, dates etc. So any fresh or dried fruit can be used to suit your own particular taste๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ have fun and experiment, good luck๐
wow Briar--I feel healthier just reading that--lol--I can see it takes a little dedication to do something good for oneself--very admirable---Now I have to get the ingredients--and get with it!! If we are going to try to get healthier ie. quitting smoking, etc might as well go all the way.. Do you feel better?? When you drink that in the am does that hold you till noon?? Are you basically eating everything like this or just 1 or 2 meals--? Lost any weight?? If you saw the contents of my cupboard and frig right now you would barf--Im ashamed--I guess I quit smoking and really lost it on the food cuz I wasn't like this before I quit .Wasnt eating as healthy as you are eating tho either--I was low carb high protein--lost 10 lbs in 3 mos --quit smoking and gained 7 back--not terrible but don't want to get unhealthy by quitting the poison nic either==ok ty much-Hope your weeknd is going well --Im having 0 craving so far today--knock on wood..madameT
Well the story behind the smoothies is I never ate breakfast coz it was coffee and cigs๐ฉ and I still can't eat first thing in the morning so that's how they really came about. It's only once a day I have them and unfortunately it's hard for me to put on weight but I'm a veggie and yeah I know I'm slightly nuts๐ although I do have a weakness for chocolate๐

HaHa! I just made a 'juicing' mixture that I can't even gag my way through...I think it was the leek.. I had to cut it with over 50% pomegranate/plum juice!

Well, I've combined some kinda crazy things before and it was good... I saw a 'health nut' online, fixing his 'breakfast' on his tailgate...and he added an onion to his smoothie... I think I just got the quantities a bit skewed... LOL!!
yes I bet so--I know kale is good for you but I hate it--I just don't know about the juice thing--I like making them so decadent they aren't healthy anymore-lol
I found a way that kale seems much 'tastier' two nights ago... might make it OK for you... and again, I mix up some 'weird things', so... I cut up a bit of kale, washed the sand and grit off of it, cooked it half done, then sprinkled liberally with Parmesan cheese, like the kind to sprinkle on spaghetti- , added a bit of salt, a bit of butter, cooked it the rest of the way to ...very done... and even hubby liked it!!!

Be careful--I ended up gaining 40 lbs--I am miserable and think I developed an eating disorder--I am going to have to pay to get help getting this off and was always able to diet on my own before--I developed heart and lung issues when I quit and I think if I got weight off would help tremendously--This is not healthy but was highly enjoyable--BUT so was smoking once--so there you have it--another addiction =====Mmet

Ha ha same here ...it's like I keep thinking I'm Hungary for something ...so I grab something ...nope that's not it ...and that goes on all day . It's only been a little over a month since o quit so I'm hoping that feeling of wanting Something goes away ...I keep healthy snacks close and don't keep junk food around ...that definately helps. No matter what a few pounds is better than smoking ! Keep up the good work !
Hi Teaka,Good work--Maybe allow a treat if you can stay disciplined--but once I got on that sugar--which is in darn near everything--I was a goner--Also I wish Id gotten more into an exercise program--I was so hellbent on quitting I wasn't even thinking--The food thing got so bad Id panic if I was away from home and didn't have something with me--also food on nightstand at night--Just awful--Im better now but that went on over a year--I still get kind of weird feeling when im hungry--Its like RIGHT NOW--a lot more to quitting than just getting rid of cigarettes-because once you close one door others open and the demons fly out ..Now I have other things to battle and it has been 2 yrs in November --I am still glad I quit--- Hugs,MmeT
