Just wanted to say hello

I have been smoke free now for 31 days and cannot believe how much better I feel. I had been thinking about packing in for so long and when I found out my BP was higher than is healthy, I quit. e cigs have helped and I am now down to one a week.

Cannot believe that I have given up after 35 years, and want to say to others, if I can do it, anyone can :) Good luck

Julia

Hi Julia and welcome.

Congratulations on your quit👍👍👏👏 I was the same, went to give blood and they wouldn't take it due to my blood pressure being so high. I quit smoking the very next day and that was over 3 years ago. 👍👍🍀🍀🍀🍀💐

Fantastic! Im sure your BP is better now too as well as being a little richer? :)

Well done Julia that's fantastic. I am on patches and the inhalator but if I am still craving when the free NHS help ends I plan to use an e-cig. x

I found the e cig the most effective NRT for me. I was worried that i would just replace one habit for another but that wasnt the case. Ive gone from a 20 a day habit to less than 1 ecig a week. I aim to be off altogether in the next month. When the cravings come - and its not that big a deal now- a puff on the e cig sorts it out. I know it is habit now and not addiction so each day is easier than the last. Stick with it and youll get there :)

Thank you :) Its crazy the money im saving. How on earth did we ever think that spend was ok?! I am using the money i save to pay for counselling to resolve long standing issues and manage my stress as part of a wider healthier approach to life. I am detemined that my 50s will be my healthiest decade so far! If we can stop smoking anything is possible :)

1 started chemo on 13th August , and had my last cig on 12th ,, making this day 45 ... using patches ,,. Really struggling this week , apart from the fact all the literature tells you , your skin will glow ,, not with chemo it doesn't ,,, your teeth will be gleaming ,, not with the mouthwash they make you use ,,, and as for the glossy , smell free hair !!! I haven't got any !!!! Feeling bit sorry for myself today !!!

Thsnkyou Karen , I am in tomorrow in hosp and have asked the stop smoking support guy to call to see me , he actually told me when I told him 10 Fags got me to work in morn , none all day , but about 6 at night , it was a crutch to get things done , if he had his way he would hsbf had me on 2 patches plus an inhalator , am think I might need one of those if I still crave after , when I'm socialising , but I'd like to think it would be past by then , I will be in isolation for 4 weeks from 1st November , so hopefully that be the worst past , but they are keeping me on 21mg till

It's over and then weaning me down , I just want to stop

Looking out of the cancer centre window 'envying ' the ones in the garden having a fag ,,,, is that crazy or what !9

Thoughts with you for your chemo. I wonder if you have visited the macmillan community pages? Lots of people who will identify with how you feel and offer support and information about what you are going through. Best wishes x
