Welcome to our site Noelene👏 Quitting has been quite the journey for me but the support on this site has stopped me from lighting up many times
I've read people's stories being short of breath, having COPD, asthma etc. You'll find people on this site who share similar or the same experiences as you are experiencing. There's some great pinned posts that are very helpful to read. There's people from all over the world on this site so there will be someone available for support 24/7
Our mantra is NOPE NOT ONE PUFF EVER
Keep in touch
All the best

Hi noelene and welcome to this great quit support family 😊
Many people suffer with shortness of breath when they quit but it usually passes. I'm not sure whether they have been as severe (or as frightening) as yours🙁.
Can I ask what the hospital diagnosed it as? Did you quit cold turkey or were you using any NRT products to help you??
I never had a cough when I quit but some can be quite severe. Maybe you need to get some advice from your doctor..... However quitting is the best thing you can do for your health and your wealth😊
You obviously want to give up so please don't stop trying😊 As Arizona has said, there are some pinned posts that may help you but have a good mooch around the site😊
We have all been where you are now so we understand how your feeling. We are here to support you in anyway we can😊
I see your from Australia, well we have a few members from your neck of the woods, so there is normally someone about on the site to assist you (it's 3am for me and cant sleep)
Good luck hun and keep us posted 😊😊😊🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭
Hi Nolene and welcome to quit support
Do have a read of some of the pinned posts as there is a wealth if information.
Many people have flu like symptoms when they quit When we have smoked of many years we have to be very patient as our bodies adjust to not having the 4000 chemicals we were getting from cigarettes
We have a great quit family here who are always ready to lend an ear or share experiences etc.. Feel free to join us
I seen on the news last night that they were considering put the price of cigarettes up to $40 a packet ( I am in Australia too) that is a good enough incentive to stay quit and just think what you could do with that extra money
Please let us know your quit so i can add you to out wall of winners
All the very best of luck on your quit journey
Welcome Noelene 😃
I see you've already had some great advice 👍
Only thing I can add is if you haven't already read Allen Carr "Easyway to stop smoking " give it a go
You can download it free online 😊
It helped me and many others in their quit smoking journey
You can do this Noelene, Glolin opened the other day with a post about self belief, you just have to believe in yourself👍👍
Xx
Thank you so much will go and read
Hi Noelene53, a big warm welcome to our quit support community
I see you've had some great advice already We have quite a few of our members who suffer with SOB and COPD and most of them say that it got worst before it got better BUT, it did get better for them Stopping smoking will not cure it, but it halts its progress sooo, it wont get any worse
Noelene, please sit yourself down and write down all the WHY's you want to quit smoking and keep it with you so you can read it when you need to perhaps make a few copy's of it and stick them around your house like in your bedroom, so when you wake up you see it and it will remind you why you dont want to smoke
Noelene, have you got any form of NRT to help you if not, maybe nip to your GP's or local chemist and see what they recommend
Please stay with us and we will help you every step of the way
Speak soon, Pete
Hi Noelene, how are you feeling?
Hiya Noelene and welcome to quit support😊
Unfortunately things seem to get worse before they get better when quitting but having said that, it's the best thing you can do for yourself in the long run.
Lots of people here to help you along the way, so stay close to this site and you'll get to where ya want to be, smokefree😊x
