Hi donesmokin I gave up for a year before and started again (grrr) but for me, the prospect of having to go on statins forever gave me the shock and boot up the backside that I needed.

It has felt right for me this time although it hasn't always been easy.

I'm not sure how I ever afforded to smoke but I now have money left in my account every month... ( never been like that in 34 years of working). I have had trips away, spa breaks, nice meals out.... I don't have to think about if I have the money coz now I always say YES😜😊😊 That is a great feeling😊

I'm no longer a slave to an addiction that would have probably killed me. My family and friends are happier and I get to add extra years onto my life 😊

Have no idea what the weather is like where you are but if it's anything like mine... Get the wellies out.... Go for a walk, take yourself off and go and have a nice coffee and bring a book with you or if the worse happens there is always housework (yuck) or a wardrobe that needs clearing out, or an attic, or a draw with gas bills going back 9 years (maybe that last one is just me).... Keep busy hun and keep us close 😊🚭🚭🚭🚭

Sorry have rabbited on a bit 🙁😊😊

Hiya donesmokin,

Most of the members here have quit before...We like to call that practice runs.

To be honest with you, you do really have to have a very strong commitment not only to quit but to remain smoke free :) :)

We all know how tough it can be and our determination to stay smoker free has to be stronger.

Keep this site nice and close - use it to vent - use it as a distraction.. I know for me, I dont doubt for a moment that if it hadn't been for the lovely members here supporting me throughout my quit journey i would not have been so successful :) :)

You can do this :) :) ..you have started doing this :) :)

Look back and see of you can recall what happened that made you start up again. If you can identify what it was, then you can prepare for that :) :)

Just take it one hour at a time...if you need..one minute at a time......You got this :) :)

Hi Donesmokin, its lovely to meet you and a big warm welcome to our lovely quit support community :) :)

If you havent already, please make a list of the WHY'S you want to quit :) and make some copies so you can stick them around the house where you think you might fancy a ermmm you know what :o keep reading them so it sinks into you brain :)

Try to keep busy :) rite, what I want you to do is to go into each of the rooms in your house, put your hands on your hips, look around for those jobs you have been putting off until tomorrow :o WELL, tomorrows come early sooo get stuck in :) huh, that should keep you quiet for a couple of days :D :D

Have a nosey through the Pinned Posts and Topics to your right, cos there's loads of info there :) :) I see our lovely Droopy and Glolin have given you some great advice already :)

Stay strong now, you CAN do it :)

Pete :)

Not my first quit either -- hopefully the last -- but for now it's one day at a time.

Lots of good advice -- above; stick around the desire to NOPE kinda grows on you!

Hey Donesmokin 😊

I found the first few weeks difficult as I seemed to have so much time on my hands and time went so slow 😟 It was worse when I was on my own, it wasn't cravings it was just feeling lost.

I had already downloaded the Easyway to stop smoking so I would re-read some of it, it helped me see smoking in a new perspective, in that I wasn't losing anything, I was gaining my life back 😊

I watched my sister die of cancer, it made me stronger and more determined that a white stick wouldn't beat me.

You can do this, have a positive mindset and come on here rant, rave, cry, laugh or just chat, we are here for you 👍

Xx

Hope you are doing ok. I got e cigs to help as i had tried to just stop so many times without success. My main incentive was moving house, my flat was an embarrassment! 18 months on i have a lovely tobacco free home and the money i saved went on buying nice things for my home.

Thanks. I look at my lovely home and that is my incentive to not smoke. I had to dump everything and start from scratch plus the previous owners were non smokers which did help.

Well done. Stopped myself 18 months ago with the help of ecigs too which i still use occasionally. I have spent the money i have saved on my new home which was my incentive to stop and if i say so myself i am very proud and not ashamed to have people visit now! I feel better also. Take care
