Now I'm WAY addicted to vaping instead???

I quit smoking almost a year ago, but I've become increasingly more dependent on my e cig. My goal wasn't just to have the e cig forever instead; my goal was to use it as a means to quit and then eventually quit that too. I've been really unsuccessful every time I've tried. Any suggestions?

Hiya princess and welcome to quit support😊

Well done on nearly a year quit👍🏼 great job so well done to you👏🏼

Perhaps you could try and go longer periods of time without your ecig, just to see how ya get on. Make a few rules like I will only have 5 puffs in the kitchen and I'll wait until a certain time. you may surprise yourself and not need it as much as you think. Good luck😊X

That's a good idea, thanks for the advice!!

Hi! 'Just want to say Welcome! I have to defer to others re using e-cigs because I just didn't care for them when i tried them last year.

However ,.. take a look at then "related posts" and "pinned posts" over on the right side of the page -- and there are some very relevant replies to a post from earlier today called "Vaping too much".

BTW: Hearty congratulations for being a year smoke free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi PrincessRynny and a big warm welcome to our lovely quit support community :) and a great big massive WELL DONE to you for reaching very nearly 1 whole Year quit :) :) that is just flippin ACE gal :) :)

Rite, e-cigs :o these are a form of NRT to help us to quit :) to which it has helped you to quit eh :) :)

Any form of Nicotine Replacement Therapy is there to help us to quit the cigs :) BUT, we then have to wean ourselves off that NRT :)

Princess, you dont say what sort of e-cig you are using :o but I am using the vape type, so we can cut the nicotine level down bit by bit :)

I've cut down from 24mg nic to 12mg now and I'm 17 months quit :) BUT am getting their gal :) :) The vape e-cig allows us to cut down more gradual :) as from going from 18mg nic to 12mg nic, if you half fill your vaporiser with 18mg and half fill it with 12mg, that will give you about 15mg,s sooooo, its not such a big er drop :) if you see what I mean :) :) So just try to cut it down, bit by bit :)

The only reason that I havnt cut it down any more, is cos I havnt got the confidences to do that yet, cos I have 2 smokers in the house :o But, I know I will :)

Princess, even if you are vaping more, your only getting nicotine and NOT all those other 4000 toxins that you get with the flippin cigs eh :) :) Now thats got to be good eh :) :)

Good luck Princess and please if you would be so kind, let me know your quit date :) then I can add you to the Wall of Winners and keep your Winners badge up to date :) :)

Pete :)

Thanks for the encouragement! My quit date - my last cigarette - was actually January 1 2015. So almost a year :) and yes I totally get not being able to decrease the nicotine yet, I started at 24 and now I'm at 12 and I'm scared to go below 8 or 9. But it's a work in progress!
