I recently quit smoking on August 24, 2015, and now that I am a week into the no smoking I have been having so may problems with my mouth. It has gotten so bad that I now realize why people go back to smoking. I Mouth is killing me. It is like my lips are on fire, My gums are bleeding when I brush, and when I use mouth wash it is like I have just ate fire. Is this normal and if so about how long does it last?

Hiya Jo and welcome to quit support 😊

Congratulations on 1 week quit, well done to youπŸ‘πŸΌ

Yep unfortunately what you're experiencing is very normal and part of the healing process. The best thing is to use a very soft baby brush and warm salt water mouth rinses and this will help the healing. You've done ever so well with your first week so don't look back now and it will get better.

Unfortunately this quit journey throws up a few unwanted side effects but it's really all worth it to be free from those horrid little white sticks.

Our motto is NOPE not one puff ever and there's lots of good advice here from lovely members to help you. So have a good look around the site and shout if need anything as there's always someone around. Good luck😊x

Hi Josephray, its lovely to meet you and a great big well done for reaching your first week quit :) :) and as you can see, your now the very proud owner of a 1 weeks Winners badge :) :)

As our lovely Briarwood has said, your symptoms are pretty well the norm for the quit stage that your at :o and she has given you some fantastic advice :) and all I can add to it, is, maybe nip to your local chemist and get some '' Corsodyl mouthwash, toothpaste etc '' perhaps tell your chemist that you have just quit smoking and ask them for advice :)

Jo, your doing just flippin fantastic, you are :) come on, go and treat yourself to something nice, cos you flippin deserve it :) :)

Take care and hopefully see's ya soon :)

Pete :)

Hi josephray and welcome to quit support. Sorry to hear you are suffering like this but sadly it is very common. On the upside, it won't last πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

No two people quit the same so it is hard to say how long. For me I had the throat that was on fire and it only lasted a couple of weeksπŸ˜€πŸ˜€
