You can decide to quit cold turkey or use some form of nicotine replacement. There are plenty of choices if you want to use NRT. On the right you will find some posts about the different ones. Have a good look around the site and there's lot of information to help you decide which would suit you best. Any questions you have about it, we'll be happy to help. I gave up using nicotine replacement patches.... there not right for everyone but so far so good for me ๐๐

I see you've had lots of great advice from some of our lovely members on here as they say, just have a look through the Topics section, cos this will give you some ideas on how your going to quit
I would suggest you sit yourself down and make a quit plan first, then have a look at our Emjays post of the most common NRT products I'm just wandering Soland, if your doctors or local chemist runs a quit smoking cessation cos this could help you too, plus you would get the NRT products for the price of a prescription, if you decide to use them
Please have a good think about it, then come back and let us know what you have decided to do and we will help you as much as possible to get you smokefree You just ask us any questions you want, no matter how trivial they are, you just fire away

Hi, same for me..been smoking now for 35 years, managed to give up for 3 years from 2010 to 2013, it was easy at the time as i had made my mind up that I didn't want to smoke anymore. I used the nicorette enhaler which is much better then the ecigs you get now, they don't work in my opinion..very stupidly I started again after playing golf one day! So smoking is now affecting my swimming,gym and tennis so have made my mind up to give up again..only advise I can offer is commit fully, get down the gym, go swimming and start feeling good about yourself...try to stay away from alcohol for a month and eat healthy food...also use this site as a diary to let everyone know how your doing daily...

You've been given some great advice already. To add to it I would always say that those who plan and prepare their quit journey are the folks who tend to be more successful
I am sure I put a post some time ago around planning, I'll have a little look for it for you now and see if I can *bump it up for you to see in the newsfeed
There is also an exercise that you can do on the run up to your quit date, again - I'll have a look for this post for you

Hi Solandkalil, great you have made the decision. I am off the ciggies for over 4 months now, I couldn't imagine being without them for 4 hours before hand. Train journeys, flying etc filled me with dread.
Anyway, I have managed to quit with a 'combo'. Basically I had a 16 hour patch and an inhalator. This was ok(ish) but I felt I needed more, so I bought the Quick Mist as a supplement. I only needed to use this occasionally as I was mindful not to over dose.
I am now off the patches and only using 2 pods (instead of 6) in the inhalator and 2 -3 little sprays a day from the mist. The feeling of you being in control and the confidence really helped me stay off the ciggies.
This site also helped me loads - I realised I wasn't alone and others were successfully fighting and achieving their goals. One easy thing I learned from here was 'NOPE' - NOT ONE PUFF EVER !

I was smoking 39 years brought a sociallites ecig to start with now it's been 13 weeks non smoking .see your Dr for patches chewing gum ect it all helps and good luck with your decision well done...
