2 weeks in, might as well be 2 years. Smoking is all I can think about?? I'm eating anything in sight too. Patches keep coming off- all signs are pointing back to the dark side :-(

Ahhh nic, your obviously having a bit of a bad ride at the moment 😞 never used inhalators but with patches they were the last thing I put on in the morning before work, had to make sure i didn't use any body creams or any oil based body wash. The area had to be really dry. You could try using tape, you know the type that you use with bandages or if you have a blood test and they use tape to hold down the cotton wool????

Please please don't give up you have done so well for two weeks, please persevere 😊😊

Hiya nic, please please please don't go back to the dark side coz you're doing BRILLIANT and those first 2 weeks are soooo hard and you've done them. Give yourself a pat on the back for doing ever so well👍🏼 my first few weeks I was totally obsessed with thinking about the blooming things and I even dreamt about them too😩 it's honestly very normal and wanting to eat all the time is also very normal. Do whatever it takes to keep going, lozenges, gum, spray and this will pass, I promise you.

im so proud of you and you should be very proud too. Hold your head up high coz you're a non smoker. You don't need a 2 minute buzz from a piece of rolled up paper that ya set fire to😡 unfortunately can't help you about the patches coz I didn't use them but I'm sure someone will pop on soon with a good idea to keep them on. Shout scream, dance, thump a cushion, go for a walk, anything really to distract you from retuning to the dark side. Sorry for going on so long but I really want you to stay quit hun😊😊xx

Hi Nic!!!! I'm with you!!! Yes it is HELL ON EARTH, but if you read. Some of my posts you'll recognise yr NOT ALONE.... It DOES get easier.... The moments of not thinking about cigs DO get longer... The moments where you punch the air sayin "YES!!! My GOD I've done it!!" Are the moments we aim for... And when they come it feels so fab!! Patience... Determination.... And a psychological battle that we WILLLLLL WIN!!!!! X

Hang in there Nic .. you've got support here and folks with shared hope and experience! I'm at day 11 (or 12?) --I can't even concentrate enough to know how many days I have! -- but I only have to make it through TODAY!

I too, am finding that this second week is in some ways harder than the first .. instead of pronounced ups and downs, there seems to be just a constant, gnawing anxiety and craving. Thanks for sharing your current trials .. 'helps me to know I'm not alone. ---Will

Hi ya Nic :) please, please try to stay focused on your quit :) remember WHY you are doing this :)

Rite the patches !! I used patches, both 24 hour and the 16 hour ones and found out the 16 hour ones were better cos they seemed to be more supple and stuck better even when I had a shower :) as long as I was careful :)

Inhalators !! I have also used these, and if used correctly, they are very good :) Rite, you do not suck it like a fag :o ermmm, you sort of put it to your lips and tilt it down, so that the piece that goes into your mouth is pointing upwards to your upper gum :) then sort of tut, have little sucks at it :) This way, the nicotine enters your upper gum and gives you faster and longer relief :) I hope you can understand what I mean :o if not please give me a kick up the backside and I will try to find a pic for you :)

The girls have given you some excellent advice and I luvem for it :) :) maybe try drinking plenty of water, cos this not only helps with cravings, it helps your body to clean itself out, plus I've heard it helps with the hunger bit too :) cos it tricks your brain to thinking your tummy is full :)

Nic I have your quit date down as Saturday 1st August :) sooo, am all ready for catching your 2 weeks Winners badge first thing tomorrow morning :) :) BUT, if I have your quit date wrong, then please feel free to slap me around the kisser :o and I will promptly get it sorted for you :)

NOPE, Not One Puff Ever :)

Pete :)

Hi nic I used inhilator and thought was okay. As for patches there are 2 types you get clear and natural ones. I was given clear ones at start and they wouldn't stick properly.so spoke to chemist about it they then gave me the natural ones and they stuck perfect .

Nic, when ever you want a moan, you just come a flippin moaning gal :o or if you just want a chat some time, cos that helps too :)

Your doing ever so well Nic, you really are :) :) yes I know what you mean about your hubby, if he has never smoked, then he wouldnt know what we have to go through to quit eh :o but at least he is trying to support you :)

Just wandering Nic, has hubby got a vice :o ermm, does he like a bit of a drink in the evening say :o if so, then ask him to quit that :| cos then he would find out what your going through :)

Take care Nic and speak soon :) x

Well done on your quit journey nicjp40 I can fully sympathise with you I was rubbish with the patches put it on forgot it was there and carried on smoking like normal lol.

I have gained weight since quitting but now feel ready to shed the weight I have gained and give my mind a new focus and something to aim for :)

The cravings will ease but there will always be odd occasions when they will creep back up and try biting you, as the others have said you have gone through the hard part and I can honestly say even though it has only been 4 months I am loving the fact that I am now a non smoker and can go and do things without searching for where I can hide for a fag and not stink of smoke.

Hi ya Dot :)

Yeah, isnt it lovely to be able to go out and about and not worry about where you can get your next fix from :) and not having to go out in the cold and rain, not that we get much of that in this country eh :o :D :D

As for your weight gain Dot, if you can quit the smokes, you can do anything gal :) :) you just put them strategies that you used for quitting smoking into place :) like maybe if you fancy a snack, then have a few sips of water, or go into a different room, do a bit of exercise, just try to take your mind off it like you did the cigs :)

Maybe make a slimming plan :o cos you dont know until you try it eh :)

Take care now Dot and see's ya soon gal :) x

Hi monky :)

I'm loving the not smoking before I used to go into a panic if someone mentioned a long journey/cinema trip or anything that meant I couldn't have a fag when I wanted .

Took the kids for a train ride this week and it was fab not panicking and thinking about being stuck and not able to have a fag, and as you said getting cold and wet living in Wales well you know the reputation lol.

I will get there with the weight it is only half a stone and already on 2 litres of water a day, but also have to face the fact that getting old doesn't help :(

The days of eating what I like and not gaining any weight are all but a distant memory now!!!!

Hi Dot 😀 would you kind me asking how you did it??

i felt that way at 2 weeks but im in the step 2 program now,if the patches are falling off try cleaning the site area with alchohol and they want stick to hairy areas, dont give up,i had developed a cough which i blamed on quitting smoking, after 2 trips to the dr.i find out i have mycroplasma pnemonia bronchitis and an inner ear infection, none had nothing to do with not smoking,i did find out that my lungs are over inflated which is the beginning phase of copd so my dr.said i quit just in time, copd is a terrible way to die as i have seen in my family, and it was all because of a cigarette, they put over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes to keep you hooked its not just the nicotine and i think us quitters should group together and make them to be held acccountable, like i said don't cave in i was up to 2 packs a day and if i can do it anyone can, tape those patches on with medical tape if you have to but don't give up.
