quitting smoking
Hi Rosie π
Well done on being a one week winner before you know it, it will be one month, then one year π
Things can be tough when you stop smoking, I never had a cough or coughed anything up, kinda felt I was doing something wrong, but everyone's different
π
Right I'm away to tell you an old wives tale but I've been assured it does work. Vicks on your feet, socks on top then apparently you have no cough and a great sleep π
Failing that there's a wealth of information on here and I'm sure someone will be along shortly with better advice than me π
If you can see your GP just to make sure it's not an infection there's aways something doing the rounds π·
Take care and keep up with the fluids that helps flush out all the toxinsπ
Good luck with the Vicks if you try it and it works you can let me know ππ
Xx
Hiya Rosie, I always think that's vicks vapour rub helps. I haven't tried Shanti's tip but if you add some to hot water and inhale, it works well and also rub on your back and chest at bedtimeπ it's very hard for you when it affects your sleep. Try and get some moisture in your bedroom as the dry air makes it worse. Hot lemon with honey to sip on is also good. There's a good tecnique on here for coughing up gunge on the right hand side of this page as well. Really hope you start to feel better soonπ the early stages of quitting can unfortunately throw up some horrible side effects but hang in there as you're doing so wellπx
Hi Rosie
I see the girls have given you some great advice already I would try the vicks rub, cos I use that when ave got the flu and it helps me to get to sleep
It may just help to loosen up that yuck in your lungs once and for all, so that you can get rid of it but please, please spit it out into some kitchen roll or something you get rid of it gal do not swallow it I know its not very Lady like but it will hopefully help you to get over this quit period
I did a lot of exercise when I first quit, that helped me to get rid of it so maybe try that
Rosie, your doing ever soooo well the first couple of weeks are the hardest, not only to get rid of mr nic and the habit, but also, getting through your body changes we are all different and suffer with different symptoms you stick at it and it will get a lot easier for you soon
This is an incentive for you cos you dont want to go through this again eh soooo, you keep on the track your on to freedom
Pete xx
Hi Rosie,
you are doing ever so well with your quit.
These first few weeks are the hardest and it will take everything you have to get through it. Many people have given up quitting in the first couple of weeks and they find it too hard and thinks its going to be like this fora very long time. That is so not true and all of will tell you that those first weeks are tough, but so worth it once you get through them as it does get so much easier
try the different methods for clearing your chest and try and see this as a very positive part of your body recovering from not having the nicotine and the other 4000 chemicals found in cigarettes.
stay strong.. it will get so much better for you very soon.
