Issues after quitting smoking

β€’12 Replies

Hi Guys,

I quit smoking around 4 months ago but have had Shortness of breath and a tight chest. Had all tests come back clear and the Doctor does not think that I have anxiety either. He also does not seem to know much about what happens to the body after we quit smoking? When did anyone have any relief from their symptoms after they quit?

Dear Barney, i do believe this is due to a lack of knowledge on how to breath after you have quit smoking. Not kidding! Lol , meditation teaches you how to breathe . its worth checking out. It would also account to your chest tightness as well i think. 😁

Hello Barney

Welcome to Quit Support and congratulations on being 4 months smoke free. SOB is a symptom withdrawal and quite rightly louloubelll as said it's about learning to breath properly.

Can I suggest that you check out the pinned posts which you will find either to the right or at the bottom of your screen depending on the type of device you are using. There you will find lots of useful information and tips to help you in terms of breathing.

Also it wouldn't hurt to get checked out by your Doctor, to put your mind at rest too.

If you could let us have your quit date, we can add you to our database and assign you with a winners badge, so everyone will know how well you are doing.

Bye for now.

Is the Champix making you feel nauseous. If so are you eating before you take the tablets. It’s important that you do so. Oh by the way I quit using Champix

I quit cold turkey 3 weeks ago and my breathing is worse now than it was with 22 years of smoking to the point I've had to call an ambulance because i can't take a deep breath im terrified but my heart lungs blood pressure are all checking out fine in fact my lungs are in pretty good shape for being a smoker but this breathless is unexplained if my lungs ate good and oxygen levels brilliant at 99 why am i so struggling to get air.
