Today has been a stuggle, not with wanting a ciggy, I have been taking champix now for just over 3 weeks and stopped smoking at the end of the first week. I used to smoke 20 a day, and had numerous reasons why i wanted to stop. I now feel sick all the time even dry gag in the mornings, 2nd week have developed a horrible metallic taste which makes nauseous worse, by mid afternoon I feel shattered, but by early evening this go's, suffering constipation and stomach aches also and very bad wind to the point finding difficult to be in room/shop etc as can not hold in and it abs stinks and even makes me feel sick let alone anyone else. I feel like stopping the champix but unsure has anyone else given up without chamix and exp these systems as I think its the tablets and all of the above is starting to make me feel very low, and if it is the tablets I can not go another 9 weeks like this. I do not want to smoke again and very sure of this, is the champix really making me stop or is it my will power thats working now???????

Hey rockster,

You are doing ever so well, it sounds like the recovery symptoms are giving you more grief than any cravings are!

Once your metabolism has sorted itself out, it shouldn't be much longer now, then you'll be back to normal.

I've copied a few links in below of some older blogs of members who have experienced similar whilst on Champix. As I've already said, it does sound like you are experiencing a whole load of what we call symptoms of recovery. Again, time will sort this out. If the sickness carries on, you can get an anti sickness tablet from your pharmacist to help. Another tip would be to have your evening Champix a bit earlier and make sure you have eaten. We have also had a couple of members who have taken half their dose one night and then their normal dose the following night. If you can stick it out until Friday when you speak to your advisor, that would be the best option as I'd rather compliment the advice youve already been given and not give you any mixed messages.

Another alternative would be to telephone them and ask their advice, you can maybe let them know of our suggestions. I'm sure they won't mind you calling them. They'd rather that then know you are struggling.

Anywhose, here are those links I've said about;

Keep us posted how you are doing, up to now though you are doing fab! :-)

Hiya, i too felt nauseous and had a metallic taste after a couple of weeks of taking them, but it passed fairly quickly on the scale of things and i have now been off cigs 71/2 weeks

Did not get the other to any degree, but i did suffer with my sleep. It all evened itself out about 10 days and has been fine ever since

Well done on stopping xx

I am at the end of course of champix rockster, never had any probs. Are you taking tablets with a large drink of water, which I was advised to do. Never take them on an empty stomach as they will make you really sick. second tablet take before 6pm, should not interfere with sleep. Remember at first I had a dream that I was smoking (upset when I woke up as I was enjoying the smoke) Anyway there are lots of other options so dont give up, Well done for getting this far and good luck.

Hiya Nixy

just come back from doctors and basically i have a very small space left????Everything obstructed, have been given very strong laxatives, and pain killers, if no improvement in 48 hours or pains worsen have to call doc straight back or out of hours as will have to go to hospital, also blood in urine so looks like I am one of the unfortunate ones with champix, still and wont have the desire for a ciggie, like to think I am a strong minded person, and no in my mind that if I have stopped now for 3 weeks I do not need to smoke and want to prove to myself the power of my mind. 3 weeks ago I didnt even think I could go a day without, this keeps me motivated not to give in. Great that you have completed the course of champix, big well done x

Hi, just out of interest was there nothing wrong with you before you started on chamois or was you already prone to bouts of constipation?

Aww bloody phones, that should say champix tho chewing on a chamois doesn't sound like it could make matters any worse lol :)

Hi

no have never had any problems with constipation, I appear to have been unlucky and have had all of the side effects..nauseous,wind,constipation,tiredness,weird dreams, and a funny metallic taste in mouth.I did try to battle on as yesterday was on day 24 of taking, and my symptoms were getting worse, the 1st week was ok, but got worse from then. Yesterday I was in tears and generally nothing to do with giving up smoking, but with all the above symptoms just felt like crap.I have not taken a tablet today and the doctor has told me not to take, will be seeing my adviser tomorrow. However have not even felt/thought about cigs, just programming my mind into thinking I have taken the tablet.
