Hope the photo is good enough for you to say whether you like or not LilyMay. Know these are 'three' colour but thought it would be relatively easy to just use two colours intstead of three.
Hope the list below helps you. The pattern abbreviations are:-
oh, they are perfect! thank you! that will keep my hands busy tonight giving that a go
Hello LilyMay
I am so pleased that this is OK for you and here I have typed below what it says in the pattern and hopefully, I have got it word for word - fingers crossed
SQUARE
Using first colour, maker a loop, then make 4ch. Join with ss into first ch to form a ring.
Round 1 : 3 ch, 2tr into ring, 2ch, 3tr into ring, 2ch, *3tr into ring, 2ch; from from * once more.
ss into top of first 3ch.
Fasten off.
Place hook through a ch sp and join in MC (which I think means main colour)
Round 2 : 3ch, 2tr, 3ch, 3tr into same ch sp (first corner), 2ch, *3tr, 3ch, 3tr into next ch sp, 2ch; rep from * twice more.
ss into top of first 3ch.
Fasten off.
Put hook into top of fastened-off stitch, join in third colour, make 1ch.
Round 3 : 1dc into top of next 2 sts, 3dc into next ch sp, 1 dc into top of next 3 sts, 2dc into next
ch sp, *1dc into top of next 3 sts, 3dc into next ch sp, 1dc into top of next 3 sts, 2dc into next
ch sp; rep from * twice more.
ss into top of first ch.
Fasten off.
Sew in ends neatly and securely after making each square.
I suppose you could try doing this all in one colour to start with (and they wouldn't go to waste as you could intersperse them in with the different coloured ones) and see how you get on. You could even do the squares in one different colour each if you would prefer and when you put them together make a pattern with them, e.g. sew them together to make the baby's initials or even first name which really would personalise the gift. You could then try doing 2 or 3 colour ones as you 'get better' at them (please do not be offended by that as I no offence is intended but practice does make perfect).
There are instructions on how to make them up by 'double crochet squares together' and how to finish off so to speak around the blanket edges and I can send you those as well if you would like them but don't want you to think that I am interfering or putting my nose where it is not wanted or send you too much info all at the same time.
How to double crochet squares together is on another page so if you would like that info as well then please just ask and I can do the same thing - take a pic and add the instructions like these.
Just going to check that I have copied it exactly as it appears in the book and I hope that this is also of use to you. Have double checked and I think that it is all there and correct!
Please let me know how you get on as I am really interested and may yet have a go at learning (or another attempt at least) to crochet myself.
That's fabulous, thank you so much will probably take me a few attempts to work it out but it will be another thing to do before I hit 40 in 11 days! As soon as I've figured it I will post a photo
That's super - look forward to seeing the photy - just a thought but you could do cream squares and then boy blue ones (if it's a boy) and pretty pink ones (if it's a girl) and just alternate them. Actually, the possibilities for colours are endless when I think about it.
Good luck but I'm sure you won't need it and by tomorrow you'll have some squares completed all ready to 'put' together and remember, if you want the other instructions that I mentioned, you only have to ask!
Have a nice evening attempting but I'm certain that by bedtime you will have accomplished your goal.
Now I don't know much about computers - very little actually if the truth be told - but I am reliably informed that if you go into "you tube" and type in how to crochet flowers that a video will be shown showing how to do it!! I hope it works and it proves even more helpful than the little I have been able to send you.
Have a good evening and I would, if at all possible, like to know if it's true and it does exactly what I have been told it does if you can understand me. Sorry, I've probably confused you.
