Reducing down and have reached 16mgs. Have lost a lot of weight with low carb diet so decided to try and increase muscle mass with two basic exercises. Side to side crouch with medium resistance band and another for gluts and back holding (not lifting) weights. Oh dear, now pain in hip and knee.
I have seen PMRpro and others refer to muscle damage when overdoing it - is it OMD or something similar?? Anyway, no more until it is resolved. I am aware that it may be the reduction, hoping not.

Guidance from a good physio would be useful. So many gyms have programmes for people with joint pain and disease like ours these days. My local gym has 24 week classes at no cost. There are one on one classes and free use of the swimming pool and gym equipment. It’s great to have relevant knowledgeable guidance on hand. Ring around. We are vulnerable to muscle injury and do need advice, especially as it is easy to develop muscle strain followed by slow recovery.
It’s the repetitive action of exercises that we caution about…so it may be that. Plenty of TLC and some cold/heat treatment on areas for a couple of days should help, and confirm it is just that and not the beginnings of a flare.
DOMS do you mean? And whatever you do, you have to start with just a very few reps and build up very slowly.
Walking and walking in water are both great ways of building muscle in the early stages. And it's also a good idea to get a bit of f2f physio guidance if you can.
When better I'll get those walking poles out and abandon the weights etc.. until I'm a bit stronger. It is my impatience which causes me all the problems I have had to date. Gave myself a good talking to...again.....🌷
Forgot to add some good news re the Hb1c result which came through today...down to 42 from 45 Yay. It is the low carb and no sweet things at all which have done it thanks to your help and advice in particular and others on here so thank you. My modest goal is to reduce to 10 mgs very slowly and hopefully that will also help.
That’s a really strong exercise and if you went straight in, I’m not surprised a mischief has been done. It can take a very long time to build back up to doing ‘normal’ exercise. I found that the small muscles that we don’t usually work that are used for stability and unusual movements were particularly weak.
Good heavens, some folks cannot be left to their own devices~!! I'll go easy on you, just another lesson learned. I've heard great things about those poles!💞
