Are you here because you are worrying that your symptoms may point to Giant Cell Arteritis? Is this something your doctors have investigated? It sounds pretty unpleasant and alarming and I wouldn’t be satisfied being palmed off like that. You are going to have to keep pushing. Maybe keep a symptom diary?I see from going back a bit, you have had this kind of trouble for a long time. You have a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and possibly Lupus. I don’t know enough about either condition but your symptoms do not sound typical of PMR or GCA. Good luck!
Thank U U got me worried 😟 I do have lupus and arthritis fibromyalgia sjogens
I call the doctors up thank u
Hi Mystik.Weirdly, I've now experienced two episodes of head pain that have emerged whilst on or around 10mg pred. I felt tightness over scalp, spikes of pain behind ears running up and over to above eyes. This would come and go, and vary in intensity. It also would seem to emanate from the occipital area at base of skull. I had this investigated and even saw a neurologist as the obvious concern was GCA. Thankfully, in my case, it wasn't GCA, but a combination of withdrawal effects on tapering pred and severe tension in neck and shoulder muscles. It felt extremely uncomfortable though and was quite debilitating.
Sometimes we're quick to assume the worst when an ailment could be something much simpler. Having said that though, you must always have any new or worrying symptoms checked out to eliminate a more serious problem...particularly where headaches are concerned.
Thank u I have seen neurologist ent doctors mri scans I have lupus and fibromyalgia sjogens arthritis
Yeh m worried and think the worst
Hope u r well
I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia too...on top of polymyalgia! Sometimes very bewildering to know what's causing what! Try not to think the worst....it's often not the worst.... and if it is....then you listen to the advice, take the appropriate action that's right for you and move forward. It'll be OK. 🙂
Thank u so much
Sorry where r u based u seem so kind
I'm in the UK in the county of Essex.
M London go said it sinuses and sending me for X-ray is the neck
I forgot to say that the neurologist I saw also said it sounded like occipital neuralgia. Fitted all the associated symptoms and apparently can occur when on steroids. Seems like you're well on the way to a less worrying diagnosis hopefully.
Wishing you a positive outcome with the neck x-ray. ❤
