Muscle Strain long recovery time ?

Over a week ago I tried to move our Wheelie Bin a few feet - and since have twinges and spasms of pain in my right side , hip and back , I have had Polymyalgia two years , do Muscle strains take longer to ease because of resident Inflammation? ?

They can do - but a week isn't that long for recovery of a muscle that is being used and tweaked repeatedly. It can be made worse if your PMR has a large component of myofascial pain syndrome accompanying it.

Thank you PMRpro , I don’t usually try to lift or shove anything heavy but the Wind was smashing the Garden gate against the Wheelie bin 🙄 very noisy- I’m shocked how badly my muscles have reacted to the strain , I’ve rubbed Tiger balm all over my right side , Shoulder down , which hurts , and taken Paracetamol , just a warning to share with others , Who might imagine they can move furniture etc my Meds incidentally are Prednisolone 3 mg daily Methotrexate inj 10 mg weekly , I’m not symptoms free but manageable pains normally , very tired though , in bed at 8 pm 😊

If I need to move something I try to use my legs for the power - back against the item and push with my legs. Not that practical with everything though. Could you not have tied the gate?

Yes I could have tried a different solution with the Gate , Regret trying to lift and pull the Bin definitely ! Not looking forward to Gift wrapping for Christmas 🎄 that is going to set off my Shoulders and Collar Bones , I’m thinking of Alternatives - Gift bags maybe 🥰 Best wishes all

Gift bags are a good idea.... and many are better for recycling --- too much paper still has glittery bits in it... 😏

Yey, we use gift bags, much better for recycling, can be reused and a lot quicker than wrapping. Just done the first two sets for the GC'S. 🙂🙂

Good luck with your wrapping Merryfield , my advice would be just wrap for a short time each day 15 minutes ish , your Shoulders and arms will likely feel sore if you do too much in one stretch ❗️🎄 x

I was looking at the British Museum gifts the other day, lots of lovely things on offer. 🇬🇧

Yes, it takes much longer. Not only because of the inflammation, but possibly because of steroid myopathy.

hello Sharitone 🙏 Yes Steroids for 2 years I feel quite Weak generally, I’m 63 but probably functioning like 75 - Chronically Tired too , Housework feels like a Gym workout 😂 Pain is not as Acute but it’s a nasty thing PMR , like a long lasting Flu !
