Does anyone have the evidence ( scientific) about the effects of large doses of turmeric on inflammation, or the Contra indications of its use in high doses . Thank you

There was a programme on BBC Radio 4 which I think was done by Dr Michael Moseley. They had done some research on turmeric and had looked at turmeric over the centuries. They did say that you were better off using turmeric in food rather than using tablets.

I tried turmeric capsules which gave me horrific stomach pain! I do have a stomach that reacts badly to most medication so I'm sure it works for some, but it's probably better in food. I can tolerate small amounts that way.

Thank you , I have come to the conclusion from all the information sent to me , that’s it’s not for me . This is due to the stomach problems it can cause when taken in the higher doses

It just proves it is better to have turmeric as part of your food!

I started Tumeric capsules recently to help my inflammation but then discovered too much can alter the efficacy of the blood thinners I take so stopped it!

You're probably better off taking Quercetin which has good anti inflammatory properties. Not sure if it's available in the UK as a supplement.

Yes we have it in our health shops , but as I eat plenty of fruit and veg , it’s not really necessary. Thanks

And in food don't forget the pepper and the oil which makes the tumeric more bioavailable.
