Turmeric Drink Shots

Mmmmmm. I am trying out Turmeric shots as a way to alleviate pain and aches...

I had my first one at about noon and the aching and pains have gone. Just that light feeling when I know pain is there and may be suppressed

I've been in a lot of pain and had aches everywhere recently upping my dose of pred to 10 mg didn't help..

So, off out for a wander in our lovely wooded glade neighbourhood soon....

D😜

I thought turmeric shots could boost the immune system which is not a good idea if you have PMR. I may be wrong.

in reply topiglette

Mmmm..... That's the first negative I've heard. I do look at Healthline and some of the other "authority" sites on the www

I only ever post anything on here ...... you lovely people :)

I Imagine it depends on the action they really have and often when someone claims somethings "boosts" the immune system they really mean it has a regulating effect and in the case of turmeric/cucurmin that may well be sorting out the inflammatory substances that have gone haywire. It has been shown (scientifically) that it improves the overproduction of inflammation.

I have just been on a gentle two mile walk and have yet to start aching............ mmmmmmmm

Is this a purchased Shot or a recipe that you could share with us?

in reply toProf99

Purchased shot from Tesco. Marks and Spencer sell them. Amazon. And many more :)

8 am just got up.... Only a little pain in one side of my back. Usually it's worse.

My ankle is hurting a little but that's where I had it fused last August.

I'm getting a COVID jab this pm and will buy some more shots and see how it goes.

I guess I will be on a two/three mile light walk today and that will certainly give out signals

I have turmeric in my tea with ginger and green tea 3 times daily I’ve always been a believer, it’s called golden tea.

I have turmeric (banana,,Greek yog) on my porridge on alternate days to my poached egg on crumpet. Down to 3.5 doing ok (despite anxieties) but cannot do more than 1mile straight walking, just around the house. Miss my fitness

Numptybrain in reply toDeyazlex

I have oats chai seeds mixed with yogurt from and honey as my breakfast, sometimes I put turmeric in but I usually stick with my yellow sunshine 3 x daily.

We should be very healthy eating these but at least we are trying, I just hope I lose this weight from prednisone I suddenly put on as it’s definitely not through eating, even my snacks are homemade with dates etc

That breakfast is pretty high in carbs - and the weight gain with pred is what you eat more often than not. Healthy doesn't cut it - has to be low carb, sometimes VERY low carb.

Numptybrain profile image
Numptybrain in reply toPMRpro

It’s low fat Greek yogurt not full fat and a tablespoon of oats tsp chai seeds.

Great idea. I like ginger and will find something to put some in. I'm a (quiet) vegan and can't stand tea either so will get creative with oat milk, some cold oats, flaxseed, chia seed and, now, a dash of ginger :)

Will let everyone know.....

Numptybrain profile image

I have oats with chia seeds every morning with fruit, you’d think we’d be really healthy eating and drinking like this but we’re trying haha

in reply toNumptybrain

That's true. I've only ever been in a McDonald's twice. Once in Milton Keynes (31 years ago) and last week in Plymouth........ Desperate for a jimmy riddle both times

I forgot..... I don't mind black tea that has ginger in. I do believe we have some stashed away somewhere.

Actually I do mind it as I think it smells a bit wicked BUT will give it a whirl....

Anything that will help your immune system along is worth a go but turmeric is well known for its health properties, it’s just hiding the taste and tea definitely does it. I hate green tea but mix it with ginger etc I like it then, just play with it until you get the right mix, you might get a surprise.

Take care

Adding it to stews and casseroles (does anyone make such things these days?) or anything you might use curry powder in ...

in reply toPMRpro

Good idea. We try to avoid cooking anything much though.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

Me too - but I don't buy ready meals, hardly exist here anyway, Has to be simple and adding turmeric to a steak whatever form of meat it is is a bit difficult!

in reply toPMRpro

We hardly ever buy ready meals.

I do like M and S prepped Mediterranean vegetables though and they have to be oven baked. I reckon ginger will be trialled tonight

I like a Linda Mccartney Vegan sausage x 2 in with it all so I suppose we do prep work rather than actual cooking.

Glorious taste.

I'm quite happy with a couple of wholegrain bread sandwiches with whatever salad I grab in there.

Brekkie just now. 1 banana :)

Yes, in the winter -batch cook and then put in freezer -easy peasy..

I make homemade stews and casseroles at least once a week even making my stock from veg peelings. It’s labour intensive though as I have to make steak and kidney for hubby and vegs ones for me. Batch cooking is handy to save time in the long run.

in reply toNumptybrain

I've just been in the pantry and sniffed the ginger, turmeric and whatever teabags..... Bin... ha ha

Silly boy - t-bags always smell disgusting, whatever sort they are!

in reply toPMRpro

True. I just made her who must be obeyed a cup of the damned stuff... with milk ...

PMRpro profile image

NOOOOOOO - they are drinkable but NOT with milk ...

It was a regular tea bag :p

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

Phew ...

I like ice cream a few times a week. Vegan kind. And that will most certainly get some ginger.

I'm into Holland and Barrett and M & S this afternoon and will look around for some things I can pop ginger and turmeric in

I had a very fine vegan Oreo gelato the other week - it was better than the "normal" one. Unfortunately, it was in Bozen which is a bit far to take the train for my Sunday gelato fix. I take the train or bus to town, walk to the gelateria which isn't far and catch the next train back.

in reply toPMRpro

Yum.... I do like ice cream it's just the milk makes me sicky. I have been that way since I was about 10 yo. I was a "milk monitor" at school and sold bottles for a Player's Number 6.

I don't smoke now though

I am really fussy about stuff like cheese and cakes.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

Most good gelaterias here have a range of dairy-free gelatos - my daughter nearly fell over at being offered a choice of about 8 at one we pass on the way to Treviso airport! My own local one does a dairy-free chocolate to die for, All the fruit flavours are dairy-free and a few other surprising flavours appear from time to time.

I could eat buckets of it. PMRpro

hm…interesting…I read no turmeric with omeprazole or lansoprazole….& no turmeric with blood thinners…so didn’t try it. Hope it works for you…

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toPixix

Dietary use is probably OK with blood thinners - it is generally the supplements and their high doses that aren't.

Pixix profile image
Pixix in reply toPMRpro

Thanks, good to know! S x

I take Omeprazole in the evening. I will take the Turmeric in whatever shape or form at, say, lunchtime and yesterday I was OK with no yukkiness just before I went to sleep. That is most annoying!

And it's almost 6pm and I walked 3278 steps = 1.34 miles - I had my COVID shot then went to Holland and Barrett for some Turmeric shots and one with Ginger in it. Tasted OK a bit sharp but fine.

In M and S getting our prepped Med vegetables that I can add some tomatoes to plus a few must haves for lazy life.

My shoulder hurts from the jab but hey ho :)

Me aching? No not really. My calves are.... a bit. I had one Turmeric shot later and followed it with some fresh bread and veg butter just to settle me down a bit.

I am knackered and off to the napping chariot early.....

zzzzzzzzz

in reply to

PMRpro I went to bed at 7pm last night and just got up with hardly any pain. Just dropped pred to 9mg too :)

Hi what’s a turmeric shot?

I’ve got turmeric powder, is that the same thing?

Thanks

in reply toPersevere99

Hello there :) A Turmeric shot is a very small plastic like bottle with liquid Turmeric in.

One of many brands, but you probably need to shop around -

Google them - they are probably a marketing gimic but it is a ready-prepared shot sized dose in a bottle.
