Hi there, my brother sent me a link to a website that is advertising a medication called “Joint fuel 360” which is a natural medication that contains Turmeric. It claims to help with inflammation and joint pain caused by autoimmune diseases

Has anyone hear heard of it?

Here’s the link (it’s a big link)

Not something I would try, especially in place of pred. I have gone down the tumeric road and it did my stomach in. I include it in cooking, but I never buy this kind of product that promises bells and whistles I am afraid.

Hi,

from the disclaimer at bottom of page -

“This page, and the results mentioned on this page, although achievable for some, are not to be construed as the results that you may achieve on the same routine. I UNDERSTAND THIS WEBSITE IS ONLY ILLUSTRATIVE OF WHAT MIGHT BE ACHIEVABLE FROM USING THIS/THESE PRODUCTS, AND THAT THE STORY DEPICTED ABOVE IS NOT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY.”

As the old saying goes - you pays your money and takes your chance.

If you’ve cash to spare it might be worth a try - but don’t expect miracles! Unless you’re one of the lucky ones. You’re probably better off using turmeric in cooking,

Or as people from Asian continent do, drink in warm milk. Again no clear evidence but at least costs very little that way.

No, not heard of it. But it isn't relevant to PMR/GCA since they are a form of vasculitis, inflamed blood vessels, not an arthritis, inflamed joints.

High dose turmeric can cause gut problems - although using it in cooking is felt by quite a few to be helpful and doesn't seem to have problems.

As Poops says - bells and whistles promises? The only benefit will be to the salesperson's bank account.

I looked at turmeric supplements some time ago, as turmeric is an anti inflammatory. I read somewhere on the net that too much can cause liver problems so decided not to use it. I do sometimes grate a small amount of fresh turmeric into soups.

My Indian GP suggested I try tumeric tablets. So I bought a pack of 180 and took them as per the package instructions. They didn't do anything good or bad so when I ran out I stopped. Didn't want to waste my money. I do make Golden milk in the winter using tumeric to help with cold symptoms. I find it good for sore throat and coughs. Basically you add tumeric, honey and a twist of black pepper into milk. Boil it up for a while then strain and drink it as required.

The black pepper apparently activates the tumeric not sure if that is correct but that's what my GP told me. Apparently his mum swears by Golden milk and takes it for everything :D

Turmeric definitely does work! It is known to reduce pain caused by inflammation . Important...I have found that tablets or pills don’t work though , you need to take the liquid. I take qunol brand 1000 mg turmeric (95% curcuminoids) it also contains black pepper extract which is absolutely necessary for absorption ...don’t bother taking turmeric without it. I drink 15mg every day and definitely notice if I Happen to skip a day or two! I feel it reduces my pain by about 30 percent if I take it every single day. I have not experienced any negative side effects from turmeric at all. I do not take prednisone or any other medication for my PMR.

I was told that Turmeric is a blood thinner, so I would consult a Doctor before taking any over the counter meds.
