It's PMRGCAuk Week next week - a week of fundraising and awareness raising.

We're hosting two webinars (on Zoom) during the week, one on PMR and one on GCA and they are open to members of the charity and non-members (although please consider joining the charity - not only will you be supporting the work we do but you'll get invites to the members-only webinars that we host during the year and a copy of our magazine full of information about PMR and GCA, our groups, research and more).

Tuesday 8th June at 11am BST "Living with GCA" with vasculitis specialist nurse Georgina Ducker (based at Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital).

Wednesday 9th June at 2pm BST "Polymyalgia beyond steroids" with consultant rheumatologist Dr Vadivelu Saravanan (based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead).

To register, please email webinar@pmrgca.org.uk

Just watched Dr Saravanan on vimeo.com/560986818 and wondering if there is a transcript?

I doubt it - transcripts take ages to compile! Accurately at least! Not sure how good a job voice recognition dictation software would do.

@ 50:45 Leflunomide? and tocilizumab? First being trialled and is similar to Methotrexate, second is not licensed anywhere?

Sorry - not clear what you are asking?

There is a trial using leflunomide ongoing in The Netherlands - but Covid got in the way of recruitment

Tocilizumab is licensed in the USA, Australia, Europe and the UK for use in GCA. If VA say it isn't - they are out of date. I think the USA was first, in 2017. Hardly recent,

..and the talk organiser has just come back with....... "Dr Saravanan has written up on his talk in our charity magazine which comes out in mid-August. You can either purchase the magazine for £3.50 (email fran@pmrgca.org.uk) or you can sign up to our membership for £15 a year and receive 3 copies of NewsWire each year, have access to more webinars throughout the year (only our PMRGCAuk week webinars are open to all), and take part in research. If you would like to become a member you can sign up here - pmrgca.org.uk/how-to-help/become-a-member/ with best wishes, Candy Horsbrugh"
