God knows anything can happen between now and then! And, who knows what I'll "feel like" on the day; but damnit, I'm planning on going! I have actually bought a ticket and "plan," to be there! That's a huge step for me!!!
Why the HELL not? I live only 55 minutes from London; I'll get to meet some of YOU amazing people... hopefully! I'll hear the latest about PMR/GCA and as we used to say at Amex; "Network, baby, network!" (Oh God, I hated that term and the whole concept of networking!) I promise I won't "network" with you, if/when we meet!
So what is it? - PMRGCAuk Members' Day & AGM 2018
When is it? - Sat. 8 September 2018, 11:00 – 16:00 BST
Where is it? - National Council For Voluntary Organisations, 8 All Saints Street, London, N1 9RL
Melissa - what the hell?!!? I'm off to book my ticket - I hope to you see you there. Wear a red carnation or just that fabulous red lipstick! I'm sure I'll pick you out of the crowd xxx
Emma’s been in hospital since Tuesday for Induction, Baby’s not having a bar of it! So Em was booked for a planned C’Section this morning, she has been pushed back & back all day, now it’s too late in the day for an elective C’Section!
So they are beyond disappointed but it’s not to be!
I will be posting News as soon as Baby makes an appearance!
I have been wondering why we hadn't heard....I hope things happen soon, Emma must be so fed up but not long now by the sounds....hope she's able to keep cool in that hospital bed, and they don't have those awful rubber sheets that make you pour with sweat!
Wow! Thinking of you all. A nail biting time Mrs Nails. My last two grandchildren came by C-Section, they were and are very good looking, no 6 rounds in a boxing match faces for them.
No Nail Biting! 😂 They’d been ready since 6.30am yesterday with a planned time of 9am & at 8.50pm last night they said no can do, too late in the day! Martin had been in his scrubs nearly all day, he looked very handsome 💙 Poor Emma she has been an absolute star throughout the whole pregnancy 🤰🏻
We’ll see what today brings 🙏🏼

Oh my goodness how exciting!!!!!! Love, light, and positive thoughts being sent out into the Universe for YOU and yours, MrsNails! My last two Grandchildren came by C-section too, Sheffieldjane!!! (weird) It's a nerve-racking time... I remember siting in the cafe at the Bolton Hospital, by myself, drinking lukewarm tea that tasted like dishwater and freaking out! And then, when I finally saw Arielle (and Max) being rolled out of the theater, (and she was beaming ear to ear) all that anxiety and worry just melted away. : )
PS - Ringo Starr was born on July 7th! Maybe they will name him/her Ringo?

Well if it’s a boy & Harry Kane Scores in the England Game Today! Who knows? 👶🏻
Sorry it’s you isn’t it, a little filing perhaps. All will be well, all manner of things will be well. 🌺
My son in law is a doctor, he was a complete wreck. Mind you my daughter had an emergency C Section the first time after hours in a birthing pool, poor lamb.
I might go. I’ll get my son to print off the details. I won’t tell anxious me, until a couple of days before. Thanks for the reminder. I need to confess, I am actually a large man with a bushy beard. 🤭
Haha! I love the not telling anxious me thing, I do that too!
Sometimes I’ve managed to sneak her out of the house by saying breezily “I’ll just put my bra on” and bit by bit with ”Oh why not a little mascara for a change” and then “Let’s just open the door...”
Once we’re out it becomes “We can go back at any moment but let’s just go as far as the bus stop...”
This tactic has worked many times but she’s not completely daft and has started to catch on more recently!
Not sure how I’d get her to this wonderful event...she’s already looking at me and going “What’s up?”
I haven’t been to London since 7/7 when I was trapped for several hours in a government building with a bomb outside. Terrifying!!!
I’m booked to start jury service two days after the PMR/GCA day and I may well have to pull out of that but curious me would love to go!
Hmmmm, yes... I can see how getting trapped, for several hours, in a government building with a bomb outside, might dissuade you from traveling to London! ...but hey, look on the bright side, what's the possibility of that happening AGAIN???
Jury service is utterly absorbing, but you could get excused on health grounds. You have to go every day and it can be weeks. If we manage to get our anxious selves to this event, perhaps they can hold hands. 🤝
I’ve done jury service before, at The Old Bailey in fact, a very long time ago so I know you’re right about that. This time it’s the Coroner’s Court which is a different pan of potatoes! I’m just staying present for now and will see how it looks nearer the time...
Well they can be upsetting and as she worked in psychiatry it was often poor souls who had taken their own lives. Since I’ve been ill I have avoided the sadness. You know yourself really. I think I got burnt running headlong towards trouble in my life.
Just for comparison, I'd always wanted to be called for jury duty. Guess when I got the letter? About six weeks into my pred journey. I was excused, my doctor wrote a note explaining about inability to concentrate, lack of stamina, that kind of thing. I really was in no fit condition to serve. But the sad thing is, that made me ineligible ever to be called again.
Oh I’m sorry, how frustrating. It hadn’t occurred to me that being excused once might prevent further chances. Pause for thought. At 68 I’m unlikely to be called again anyway so this feels like I either go now or forget it!
Totally recognise that process. Sometimes a real emergency meets the level of anxiety and makes it normal. I was in a tube station when I was going to a work event, an announcement ordered us to evacuate because of a bomb scare. I was the only one who skittered out to a place of safety. Seasoned Londoners strolled out, looking bored and irritated. After a while you feel foolish lying flat under a parked car. 😂
I’ve been close to bombs more than once. In Belfast there was one on the doorstep of the pub I was in. I couldn’t get out fast enough while the locals all took their time finishing their glasses of Guinness. The street was bristling with armed men who directed us down a side street. I wanted to run but thought they’d shoot if I did. Ack!!!
I narrowly escaped the Bishopsgate bomb too. That was a biggie!!!
So I’m more than a little wary but
maybe the Members’ Day could be just the thing to draw me out...
Hahahahahahahahahahaha! ...and you are certifiable! Which is why I love you!!!!
Yes, do not mention to "Anxious Me" (You) until the day of.... "She-Who-Shant-Be-Named" has NO IDEA and won't be told anything until midnight, September 7th!!!
That's great Melissa! Be careful though, I hear that one of the Guest Speakers is a bit 'dodgy' (suspicious) - and he's bringing his even dodgier mate...
Pleased you can and bet you have! I'm also practicing my 'four finger' whistle (lost my pea for the minute) to attract/distract (depends how you are behaving) your attention..... ha ha
Particularly with our pred heads on!....the mind boggles - one things for sure there'll be no quick getaways so forget the flight bit has to be fight all the way......
How wonderful! I'm sure you will enjoy engaging with the folks on here, face-to-face. You folks across the pond are so organized, and I really get the sense that you are a close, supportive community that has made it a priority to learn, share and support one another through the journeys with these conditions. I'm very proud of your accomplishments!
To be honest I'm also very envious. Still haven't found people near me in Southern, Ontario (its a HUGE province) who are interested in meeting organically. There are a few folks near Toronto I learned via another post. So I'll extend an offer to meet or host a meeting for anyone in Ontario who is interested. I am retired and have a reliable vehicle, so very able to travel if need be.
Don't get me wrong.....I have both enjoyed and continue to benefit from this forum. Thank you!
