Frothy urine

PMRPro mentioned that: Pred makes you lose magnesium, calcium and potassium in your urine, does this cause frothy urine? PMR came back after a year and I am on 10mg of Pred,  and I have suddenly developed this.  Doctor doesn't seem to be worried.  Have had a kidney function test and all is well there.  Just wondered what is causing this.

I wish - am a diabetic so no chance!!  My mind boggled too, which is  why I wondered what caused this.

Actually when you asked the question I did wonder about diabetes. My late husband was diabetic, and very often had weird and wonderful things going on, but I must admit I can't remember that one! Still, there's a first for everything! Hope you get it resolved whatever is causing it. Bit of a conversation stopper though! Take care.

Maybe you should have it tested. You could have protein in your urine.

md-health.com/Foamy-Urine.html  is a good overview.

All sorts of things can cause it as this article explains - luckily, saves me writing for half an hour. If you have already had kidney function tests it is unlikely to be protein in your urine or an infection or any of the nastier causes.

But the other causes are really rather simple! If you pee hard it can lead to bubbles forming on the surface - and I'm sure everyone has noticed a difference in speed of flow depending on whether you'd waited and waited and we desperate to go or whether you thought "I'll just nip to the loo before I go out even though I don't really need".  Or you haven't been drinking enough and you are dehydrated so your urine is very concentrated. And how well was the last lot of cleaner rinsed off the pan?

Hi everybody.  Thanks for your suggestions.  I did have a kidney function test and all was OK.  Of all the things that you posted I think the only one I might be likely to have is the dehydration so I'll see what more water can do.  Oh and I'll have a look on the website you posted to see if anything comes up there
