Just wondered if anyone takes Betmiga (Mirabegron) for better urine control and if it is advisable? Since having PMR from 2022 I have frequency and urgency bladder issues, particularly at night. I would love to sleep the night through or travel without angst!
While I am on, glad to say I had the first cataract done this week after 5 cancellations. I was asked by two senior nurses why I took Pred and found they had never heard of PMR. While we waited for my turn for the theatre, I ended up telling them about this Forum. They in turn flagged up this Zoe You Tube on what is Inflammation. I found it quite interesting. See what you think.
Hello, do you mean whether Mirabegron interacts with Pred? Or whether it is a nice drug over all? I don’t know but presumably the prescriber should go through it with you, but I know you might want to ask those who actually take it. I can see you’ve had no replies so perhaps nobody takes it here. You could try finding another relevant forum on HealthUnlocked and ask there. In the meantime the NICE guidelines for it say there is no interaction with Pred when one uses their interaction search box. You can search on this site for side effects etc.
Regards the video, yes this theory is gathering weight and sounds very plausible. People here seem to be on all sorts of diets before diagnosis and it is interesting that (anecdotally) poor diet can make PMR/GCA worse but a good diet low in sugars doesn’t cure it.
I too have urine urgency problems during the day and at night. I'm taking pred and prescribed Betmiga. It works a treat, however it raises the blood pressure, its a known side effect. I found Solifenacin to be just as effective, without raising my blood pressure. Good luck .
Thank you both for replying with the information. I have checked out both Betmiga and Solifenacin and see the the former is very expensive. I will write and ask the GP - we have to use the post now to communicate to make sure the letter is scanned into my file securely and then passed on. Appointments are requested sparingly for serious things only, so no idea of discussions about medication any more.
Just received an invitation for a covid booster today. Another dilemma as I was told that the Pfizer vaccine probably triggered my PMR!
It might have been the final straw as we explain again and again but there is no single cause of PMR. it is the accumulation of insults to the immune system over a lifetime and if it hadn't been the vaccine, it would have been the next event - maybe Covid. I developed a flare with one vaccination but nothing PMR-related with the others. I have absolutely NO desire to get Covid and certainly not badly so vaccinations it is.
Point taken PMRpro. Nobody knows what triggers PMR really, but one tends 'to listen up to Consultants' and believe myths! I am having a flare at the moment and on 11 mg for the two weeks so after that I will book in for a booster. I have had 5 up to now.
Enjoy what the weekend has to offer and thank you again for being there for us all.
