Neuromodulation, anyone had good resu... - Pelvic Pain Suppo...
Neuromodulation, anyone had good results?
There's not much experience with it in general and it's pretty invasive. We know of some patients who have taken this route but its not straightforward.
Are you considering it ?
Only if i feedback was good, sounds a little drastic to me. Need to have more information from people that have used this method with the pros and againsts. So until than, not convinced.
Sorry the slight delayed response but only just found this message board. I started to get pelvic pain in approx 2004 after having trauma to the base of my spine. It took approx 5 years before I was properly diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia. I've had a very positive experience of neuromodulation (pulse-frequency). I've had three lots now, it is relatively invasive, it is fairly similar to the steroid / local anaesthetic injections I had to get diagnosed. I had limited success with the steroids but much more benefit from the neuromodulation. For me it does cause an intitial flare-up in symptoms which lasts approx 2-3 weeks which can be hard. But after this I've had great pain relief benefit which lasts up to 8 months. I probably could last longer if I really needed to. I had my last treatment begin Aug and I'm still virtually pain free, I still have some bladder and bowel issues but it controls the pain for me well. I have private insurance and so far they have been OK about funding this on the frequency I have required. Dr Baranowski has always performed my injections and I wouldn't trust anyone else ! It does sort of "turn down" the signals in other ways to, but it has improved my life very much and as long as I'm careful and don't try and do mad things (e.g. go running) it seems to work well. happy to provide more info if required
Hi thank you for the information, can you let me know what it exactly entails and I didn't think this was available privately, I remember Dr B telling me that I could only get this treatment on the NHS? I have had five steroids - one of which botoxwith Dr B.
Many thanks
