Has anyone had an MRI proctogram or similar? I've had ibs for 28 years now and tried so many things to help. Haven't had much help thru the nhs. I now suffer from additional even more difficult to deal with issues in that I get urgency to pass stool, tiny flecks of stool, small stool, frequent toilet visits, constant wiping required. Go to the toilet average 3 or 4 times in morning b4 work, during the night I've constant gas and in the morning. I raised this with nhs again around 2021 as I now have gas going from bowel to vagina regularly rushing out and can't control it. Went to gynaeo who said it wasn't her speciality but bowel specialist; only got him in 2024 who done colonoscopy which was clear and he's signed me off saying ibs. I had tests at tail end of lockdown for sibo which was positive. He is saying sibo is dubious and hard to prove. I also saw a pelvic floor specialist who says I don't have a prolapse but have weaker muscles gave me advice etc but she was obviously unable to see the issues I'm having, leaking, urgency etc and where stool and gas is going and when I went to her I had to make sure bowel was emptied or I wd have had accidents on her!
I had a ct scan after utrrine polyps were found in 2022 and stomach specialist mentioned mri of bowel but then said a ct scan wd have picked up any signs of a fistula so signed me off. Having read about the proctogram I'm now sure I need this to see if muscles are weak and which ones etc as I feel all these years of ibs/sibo have weakened my whole system.
Interested if anyone else has had this. Can I go back to consultant and request it. This additional problem started in 2021 and here I am in 2025 still no help thank you.
