So this may be an odd question but I was wondering for anyone who has had a botox injections for pelvic pain problems, where was the injection site? Was it in the lower back or in the vagina? Or a combination?
See the last time I had it done (was done for vaginismus) it was done into my vaginal opening and worked wonders as most of my pain was localised there and it relaxed the muscles. But I wondered if it made a difference where it was done - if you have back problems, bowel problems, etc.
Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has had it done 💕

Hi, I am not really sure, but I think they put the injections into the muscles that are causing the problems, if they are tight or dystonic. I had Botox for dystonia in my neck and they injected all the tight muscles. All the best,
Hi there I have levator-ani syndrome which causes severe spasms and pain in my pubirectalis muscles which effectively"lock" meaning I cannot sit without feeling pain and pressure in my rectum.
I have colitis also and severe Dysfunctional Bowel. I cannot have a Bowel motion independently, having to use trans-anal irrigation and manual extraction daily.
My treatments are seeing physio for internal / external vaginal trigger point therapy to help release muscle spasms. My consultant does botox injections into pubirectalis muscles, to begin with she locates pain points by pressing around vaginal and rectal areas injecting Into these areas. Locations are a mixture of inside and outside of vaginal area.
Combination of treatment has been my life line, it doesn't eradicate pain and spasms but makes severe flare ups less frequent.
Unfortunately I was due my treatment just before covid lock down and my symptoms are now the worst they have ever been. I hope normal hospital treatments resume soon as I am finding it difficult to cope with.
Botox doesn't work for a lot of people but as I said for me it is a life changer. Good luck with future treatment and hope it works for you.
Can I ask how did you get the botox for your pelvic pain. My consultant put in a request for a group of us to have it but we were turned down. I live in Surrey
Hi Bubble_by. I'm about to have botox (I'm in Australia). My pain specialist is injecting by obturator muscles and any tight areas indicated by my pelvic floor physical therapist. Good luck with everything
