prolapsed bladder

I have a prolapsed bladder , I’ve had it for about 10 years now and it’s progressively gotten worse over the years. The last 3 years though I’ve been ill/ just off , not feeling 100% very fatigued (exhaustion) I don’t want to get up anymore or do anything I’ve had symptoms of hormone issues but all those bloods are normal every time. I’m not menopausal. I clicked today that it could all be to do with this bladder issue. I have had a uti the past week and this got me thinking have I got symptoms from my prolapse?

anyone with experience that would know if you can manifest symptoms from this and possibly even affect your mental health ? If so then the last 3 years will make a lot of sense and the mystery might be over. I can’t take it anymore I’m always ill , yet “nothing is wrong”.

appointment made with the obgyn but there’s a long wait. So I’m looking for possible insight.

Please help !!

No I haven’t but I did have a traumatic birth and two further natural deliveries after that. My first basically came out all at once, he had been sitting in the birth canal for a while - I had a epidural so I couldn’t feel him and I was not being monitored properly. I had nausea and vomited , this caused me to push him out all in one go, I was torn internally and out.

Wow sounds like me, I’m perimenopausal. I’ve had a UTI for almost 12 months, I’ve been going beserk asking to be referred, doctor did an internal Friday and has told me that I have a prolapse of the bladder and bowel, had no idea although the symptoms she mentioned I have had, but put it down to menopause. Now been ref’d for urgent cystocomy - camera in bladder on Monday as they’ve looked back and there’s blood in most of my urine samples even after the boat load of different antibiotics I’ve taken . Are prolapse and UTI related? I’ve been telling my doctor for months I don’t feel well … it’s so annoying and frustrating. I’m also ref’d now for scans and to a gynaecologist. Offered to fit the ring, not really happy with this as it’s not a fix and merely a band aid … can anyone offer an insight please?

UTI is definitely a side affect of your prolapse, it’s because you don’t empty your bladder properly.

I also put all the symptoms down to going in to early menopause/perimenopause. Symptoms- Nausea, pain/discomfort in my pelvic area, extreme fatigue, generally unwell. I’ve even had the sweat at night/hot flushes, struggling to wee, I have to push hard to release and my bladder doesn’t empty out. I’ve got low folate and anaemia but neither medications are helping with that.

I’ve been told it’s all in my head before to, after 4 lots of bloods coming back normal, slightly low testosterone at one point but nothing significant. They honestly thought I was putting on an act, like I’m some kind of hypochondriac. It’s been very hard and very very depressing, I ride horses and I can’t even enjoy that anymore because I just can’t be bothered to get out of bed.

I hope they help you sort this out, I’ve called for an emergency appointment as one of my symptoms are struggling to wee and that’s progressively gotten worse since my last post , that can damage my kidneys. So here’s to hoping they help me now 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thank, I too have had terrible fatigue, lack of motivation to do anything. My bloods came back low in iron and folate too. I have a feeling discomfort of down below, not sure if that’s urethra or prolapse now? Plus strange feeling in lower abdomen. How. Bad do things have to be to get an operation?

It’s sounds like I am talking to myself, my pelvic area is also very uncomfortable, heavy and tight. It’s weird feeling , the prolapse is making you feel like that in your pelvic area. That’s what my doctor told me. What’s really sad is it’s not considered life threatening so we have to wait, which is a damn joke.

It’s only threatening if you are unable to urinate at all. I was told then I could go to the A&E as an emergency.

I had Anemia..my blood work showed exactly what you had. I was put on Iron, Folic Acid and I am back to normal. As for the feeling of discomfort I also had a burning sensation also with it. Was put on vaginal suppository and most of that is gone. I’m 80 and this was going on for about 7 years. Ugh. Actually now I am feeling good. Hopefully you will find something that works for you.

I empathise with your discomfort and worry. I have been trying to get answers via the NHS for 3 years myself. If you are interested in non surgical approaches, check out wholewoman.com - they have excellent tips for prolapsed bladder (toiletting and exercises). I also go to a herbalist, which is helping a lot with my pelvic pain and worries, insomnia, etc. It does seem like the established medical system has very little understanding of female pelvic organs and their interconnectedness and dynamism. A holistic approach is so refreshing in comparison! We are not made flawed, our bodies are by design perfect, we are not crazy when it hurts and is uncomfortable. Wishing you healing and good health.

I was told 11 years ago I had a double prolapse, bladder and rectum. In December my gp prescribed antibiotics for a UTI. These did not work so I went to see the out of hours gp at our local hospital. After an examination he informed me I only have a bladder prolapse good news. He gave me stronger antibiotics and sent a report to my gp, the suggested I should see a gynaecologist and a urologist. An appointment with an advanced clinical practitioner put these suggestions to bed. I would only see the urologist if I had had 6 to 7 UTI's in a year. Seeing the gynaecologist was a last resort you have to try different options before surgery is offered. Last week a nurse fitted a ring pessary. Four attempts and lots of pain before correct size was found. I must say it has made such a difference No more dragging sensation and a lot less pelvic pain. Long may it continue.
