It might only be a vaginal wall prolapse. I had this when I was carrying my third baby and this was many years ago when I was 25 years old. I lived with the prolapse until about 4 years ago when I had the repair done aged 68 years. I'm 72 this month and all been ok so far, so try not to worry but get an appointment just to check.
Can I respectfully ask you how you where after your repair ? I am down to have one and am very nervous. I am 68 and have had vaginal prolapse for 18 months. I am a joint carer for twin disabled grandchildren and don’t want to be out of action for weeks. Thankyou
Hi Teddy3. I recovered very quick, but you must rest and not lift for at least 6 weeks. I was doing general housework after about 2 weeks but that was only washing up cooking etc and light cleaning. Not hoovering but I also had my bladder placed where it had dropped and I must say my bladder has moved again but my prolapse repair has been fine. Please do not worry, I didn't find the operation very painful, I was quite surprised at what little discomfort I had. I hope this helps you. I understand your situation of being a joint carer which is hard work but please do not over do it as you could put yourself back to square one. Talk to your surgeon he/she will say when you can be back in action. Good luck
Hi Valen82. No I didn't have any problems during birth. A few stitches but a normal delivery. Prolapse remained the same .I never had any problems until my later years of 68 years where I got a drawing sensation and uni's. Then had the op. By the way sometimes they won't do repair work on a prolapse after birth because muscles are weak and need to go back in place. xx
I had a prolapse from 3 months. The midwife team wasn't interested as they seemed only interested in the baby , they said it wouldn't affect labour. I pushed hard in labour and still have it 6 years on, now diagnosed. I wish I'd had it properly diagnosed at the time and it had been discussed and considered as part of the birth plan. I'd suggest insisting on seeing gynecologist
