I have daily very painful rectal pain which keeps me from ordinary functioning. I have a history of internal and external hemmorrhoids and my doctors feel because I am 87 years old I should not consider a hemmorrhoidectomy. I am hoping that there is someone who can relate to my condition and can offer me support and perhaps some other procedures I am not familiar with to help me alleviate my pain.

I have been suffering from vaginal and rectal pressure and pain for 3 years. It ranges from tightness to extreme pain that even radiates to my bladder. I have seen 3 different doctors with no answers. They ruled out UTIs and STIs and pelvic inflammatory disease. I’ve been put on antibiotics even when my urine culture comes back negative. I often feel like my pelvic floor muscles are having spasms. I’m so frustrated and feeling hopeless and the stress makes it worse. I feel very alone and don’t know anybody else who suffers from this. I just wish I had a name for this condition 😞
your symptoms sound very similar to mine, I have a diagnosis of levator ani syndrome which causes severe rectal and vaginal spasms and chronic pain. This in turn with slow transit colon makes normal defecation near impossible. I have to do daily trans anal irrigation to empty bowel. I am supported by my specialist bowel and bladder physio who does vaginal internal/external trigger point therapy which helps a lot.
I also get three monthly Botox injections into the levator muscles which really helps with the rectal pain and spasms.
My consultants colorectal and gynecology work together and have joint clinics and appointments as they have identified that both conditions are linked. It saves time waiting to see them individually and get prompt examinations and relevant treatments that help me cope with constant pain.
Just a mention, I changed to an all female team of consultants as was disgusted with being fobbed off with their male colleagues. Female doctors just "get" what you are going through.
Hope you get answers soon and dont be afraid to get your voice heard. Wish you the best if health.
I have suffered for twenty yrs. With pain and been to many Doc.s in the past. I found something on the internet that sounds like what I have.. I have every one of the symptoms. I have Pedendal Neuralgia. It says most doctors over look it and can’t tell you. I have been taking small doses of morphine which’s kills the pain. I also joined AidPlan which is a 12 week program that they have. 90% recovery rate. Please them up you will be amassed. If you try it please let me know. I’ll be praying for you and pass it on.
I had this waking me from sleep and I was in severe pain. I have piles too but the pain was inside a few inches up. After Colonoscopy they found a diverticular pouch close to the rectum which was infected. Regular daily antibiotics got rid of the diverticulitis.
