Please don’t worry. I haven’t had these procedures but have had many operations over the years…I’m mid seventies now…and on each occasion I have had plenty of time to have everything explained to me by a nurse as well as the anaesthetist and the surgeon. You have to sign a consent to the operation form, so they must ensure you understand what is to happen. Hopefully someone on here who has had the procedure will reply and reassure you. The main thing to concentrate on for now is eating as healthily as you can, gentle exercise and positive thinking…like how good you’re going to feel once you’ve got over the operation. We are really very lucky that we have amazing surgeons who can give us back our lives, so Good Luck to you and let us know how you go!

Not to worry. You will have any questions or concerns answered in pre op the day of surgery. I was in the hospital 1 night. In bed for one day once home. I was a little tired but just rested when needed. Of course no lifting or housework. You will be fine..

Hi most operations are very successful so dont worry. I would strongly advise you not to have polypropylene as this is the mesh. Sometimes it's called TVT stands for Tension free vaginal tape. I dont know what they use now?I would be extremely interested to know what they do use now as l have pop and worry about the future. I wish you well with everything

I had hysterectomy with bladder repair back in April. I we t for gynae outpatients appointment yesterday and consult very pleased with me. My bladder has never been so good. She said they sent uterus off for checking no cancer and she said all was good only loads of fibroids in there. So pleaded and so glad i had it done. Hope all goes well for you too x

Yes at least you are in the know. Polypropylene is what the mesh is made of apparently they are allowed to call TVT not mesh when it actually is. I have read this is because its tape and not a sling. So its made of exactly the same material only thinner.

Good luck with everything

Let me know what they are planning to use please.

Thankyou

There is a wonderfully informative, helpful group on a web site named 'hystersisters.com'.

You will find all the information you could possibly need plus an excellent forum of people who have been or are going through your procedure.

This should allay your worries and I hope you find it useful.

Wishing you the best for your operation.

Regards
