hi im new to this site any advice welcome ?, i had a hysterectomy 40 years ago , i then developed a prolapse which i had repaired , i developed a severe infection and all the work completed internally failed , i then had it re-repaired with mesh ! i have since had intermitent vaginal rectal pain but normally managable , this week it has flared up and in agony , i think this was caused by lifting , my gp has prescribed gabapentin until i get to see a physio in march , i had scan last year and mesh still in situ with scar tissue one side , will gabapentin help ?

YES. Please take it. I have nerve damage for over four years after prolapse surgery and Gabapentin certainly helps. I am concerned about your mesh though. My GP tried to contact the hospital thirteen times to try to establish whether mesh had been used due to the amount of pain I was in. She was assured (eventually) that there was no mesh used but the surgeon did tell me I had nerve damage and that these things happen and "nerves cannot be seen" and so I am now left with pain which I did NOT have prior to the surgery. Lots of treatments have been tried to help me (at another hospital) and Gabapentin has been the best medication I have been prescribed. Good Luck.
