How hard for you. Have you got nobody to help with your children? I think you need to start doing as you have been told to and if you cannot ask to see your consultant again who can check if you've hurt the repair. When I had my surgery luckily at 68 and a husband to look after me, I did nothing for 6 weeks and have been fine. I was told never to lift anything heavy ever again. I really hope you can get help soon. Take care

Sorry you have had infections after surgery, so unlucky. I hope it all clears up soon. I was told to start doing pelvic floor exercises straight away and build them up from min to Max over a few weeks. I was also told to do them going forward forever to stop prolapse recurrence. Hope this helps x

I had prolapse surgery and a hysterectomy 15 months ago and am still struggling with it all. Had a major post-op bleed 12 days after surgery and that has complicated everything. Now suffering pudendal neuralgia complicated by bowel issues. I wish I had never had the hysterectomy and maybe tried a pessary before rushing into surgery. Hindsight is a great thing. Please listen to what the specialist said and you have to rest for 6 weeks, no lifting and no heavy lifting even after 6 weeks.

It is really important you rest otherwise you may not recover as well and unfortunately prolapses can reoccur. Isn't there anyone that can help with your young children? Please take good care of yourself, it is so important. πŸ’

I had my operation in 2022. I think your fear of damaging your recovery is making all the symptoms worse. I too worried I'd ruined everything doing some gardening. I was fortunate that I had gone private and the consultant agreed to examine me. I was reassured everything was in place. I felt so much better. Is there any way you can get an examination to put your mind at rest then use the fear for good by making sure you don't overdo it from now on. You will feel very tired for a while yet. Listen to your body. You need help with the children. I am fine now but unfortunately have been left with stress incontinence. I hope yours improves but otherwise tena pads (or similar) will be your fall back I'm afraid. Good luck and try not to worry.

It's terribly important to rest as much as possible. The other symptoms sounds quite normal. Try to do your pelvic floor exercises later to help incontinence. Get some help with your children. No lifting at all! I remember the milk and kettle being an effort but it with ease gradually. You have had a huge operation. It will take time...even 6-9 months to feel normal again. Lay down in the afternoons. Get your husband, friends, relatives to help out with household tasks ie ironing, hoovering, shopping and cook very simple dinners.

You must look after you in order to heal properly.

Take care

I had surgery 8 weeks ago. You can walk and get up. Just no lifting is the crucial part. I still have that tampon feeling . I went for my six week check up and the Gynaecologist said that the stitches I can feel as they have not yet Disolved. Told me another 4 weeks of no lifting. Just do what you can. Potter around, but no lifting. I used a plastic jug to slowly fill kettle and saucepans on the stove. Just adapt. Don't pick the kids up. You will improve weekly and then daily. I even got on my bicycle today for a short ride πŸ‘πŸ‘

The stitches can take 2-3 months to dissolve. We all heal at a different pace.

This won't be much help but I didn't have three small children in my care but still found it difficult to rest and not undertake housework or lifting etc , please try to ignore everything but the most urgent stuff,!

I managed reasonably well but 18 months later was in charge of a granddaughter who tripped and fell over. She lay on the ground, arms imploringly held out to me as she howled so I ran to her and did the most stupid action of lifting her up.

As I did so I felt an internal 'pop' and knew that I had ruined my surgery.

I write this to try to encourage you, no matter how much they cry, not to lift your children up! My granddaughter, of course, was happily playing again ten minutes later, oblivious to the damage caused! It was my decision to lift her but a very poor one!!

It all sounds normal to me having had similar. Pace yourself and do not overdo it or you will feel worse!

Do small physical activities then sit down. Take painkillers if you need them.I still take Nurophen and Paracetamol some days or Co Codamol if very sore.

Coconut oil is soothing for around the vagina if you are dry.I take spare pants everywhere and do my pelvic floor exercises daily! Squeezy app is great for reminding me to do my pelvic floors otherwise I leak more.

You have had major surgery and it may take up to a year to feel 100% again although I am older.

Walking short distances and gentle yoga is helpful. Warm baths in the evening and taking very good care of yourself.

Read Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein- useful and helpful.

You will feel gradually so much better.

Take care

Love Sarah xx
