Who has had gynecological physio and how invasive is it? Thanks

Physiotherapy for prolapse
It’s not very invasive. For me they slide two fingers up into my vaginal area and just massage the walls where the tendons and muscles are. It makes a big difference. They will also work on the outside of your abdomen area massaging it. The first time when they did the initial consultation was the worst because they had to find out where all the painful spots They will also work on the outside of your abdomen area massaging it. Physio never did anything for me and it was painful, Pilates and topical estrogen worked for me.
I have found it very helpful...I have some pudental nerve issues as well as pfd so she does mobilization of my whole pelvis and pudental glides..also external trigger points....a little internal but that makes pudental nerve worse sometimes
I found it very useful and less invasive and unpleasant than a smear test. It was all about finding the state of my pelvic floor, hence the internal exam, then giving exercises to help. I'd recommend it, but I guess it depends on how severe your prolapse is
My physio did very little. Confirmed there was a problem, told me to do kegels and if it got worse I’d need referring for an op. They tried just one type of pessary, which didn’t work. I waited 6 months for this information which I already knew. Pilates helps, but not all the moves are safe. There’s a dvd by Michelle Kenway available from Amazon specifically for prolapse patients. £20 and well worth the money.
Pilates should ideally be done with an instructor experienced in prolapse and pelvic floor problems, I had 1 to 1 classes for 2 years which helped immensely 😊
Which is why I mentioned the dvd specifically made by a specialist for that reason. I live miles from any towns so can’t afford one to one physio. We do have a yoga instructor in the village, but she doesn’t do classes for prolapse and advised the Michelle Kenway course. It’s excellent and does not put pressure on my condition
For me it was the option of internal physio but I could refuse it. It was to check that I was doing my pelvic floors correctly and to see if there were any issues. It was so quick and with a nurse who does this everyday as a specialism. Yes it’s weird but easier than a smear test (which are easy and essential). The best way is to just do it and not think about it. It’s a part of your body like anywhere else and if it’s going to help you then it will be worth it. Better than more intervention (like surgery) later on. I also had the internal exam to diagnose the prolapse so have you not already had to have this?
Have never had a smear so anything internal is a no no unless I am.knocked out. Thanks for the warning everyone . Think I will give it a miss and go for the pilates option . Thanks again
