Hi, I am 56, and have 2 x 4cm fibroids, one embedded in the wall of my uterus, plus lots of small ones clustered around the neck of the uterus, which prevents intercourse. My endometrial lining was also very thickened. I suffer severe PMS. The consultant offered full hysterectomy or a lesser op called myosure and novasure, I opted for the latter but when I got to hospital they didn’t have the right equipment and the surgeon thought the fibroid was too big for the procedure anyway ?!!
So I consulted a herbalist and one year on the endometrium is now normal but the fibroids are the same. She has however helped me transition into the start of menopause which is great as I hardly have a period now and they were so heavy and painful.
The fibroids seem to be causing more pain though, often like a needle stabbing inside my uterus. So I have been referred to consultant again.
My question is, bearing in mind my age, the fact that I have started menopause, should I just leave them, or put myself through an operation?
I know some doctors say fibroids die off after menopause but that is definitely not always the case ☹️
