Hi so I have been told that I have a 5cm fibroid growing on the inside of my womb. My period symptoms each month vary and are awful. Often affecting work, personal life and general day to day tasks. In the last two days (3rd day of period today) I have had waves of nausea, vomiting, severe cramps which I have slept off, used paracetamol and codiene, buscopan, gaviscon, tens machine, but no matter what I use I vomit it up. I had a hot bath this morning and was screaming out in pain. I’ve never had children but can imagine the pain being similar. I am now considering birth control. After TTC for three years. But I don’t know what birth control would be best? Any recommendations?

Fibroids, awful periods and birth control
Dear Zala ,
i have been through this , I had fibroids , very painful and heavy periods for over a year. I was in my mid to late thirties studying for my degree. I would fall asleep in lectures.
In the end after various drug therapies which didnt work i had to have a hysterectomy. I had it during the xmas holiday and went back to college in the january. I got a lift into college for several weeks . The holiday was perhaps four weeks and i was studying part time.
I suspect that you will need this and ive detailed my history to give you an idea of how it may affect you. Ive become blase about hospital and operations over the years Ive had so many. I recovered pretty quickly from that one . You will survive and I pray that you will be able to take it all calmly. I expect you are quite fit as I was , and that will help your recovery.
All the best my dear, I shall look out for your next post. KT
