CPPS/Chronic Prostatitis/PN and Constipation

Hi

I may be suffering from mild Pudendal Neuralgia - or maybe Chronic Prostatitis. I went to yet another consultant last week and he seemed to be diagnosing the latter.

It probably doesn't matter what the formal diagnosis is because Chronic Pelvic Pain and Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis seem to have been merged in medical speak into one entity as far as I can make out

Anyway - constipation issues - I'm going 1 day in 3 - which may not seem disasterous but which could certainly be improved upon. I've got a pressure most of the time on my anal sphincter, the mechanism just isn't right. When defecation does come it is burning and quite difficult. It's very full too given the length of time the stool has been festering away in there which can't be good for my prostate

Diet wise I am doing the best I can; I'm avoiding alcohol, wheat, dairy, spicy, red meat caffeine - eating loads of vege; taking golden linseed - and stool softeners

I have taken movicol in the past but I am loath to do that at present because I've read that the chemicals irritate the prostate

Has anybody got any ideas on how I could improve my situation?

Chronic pelvic pain and chronic non-bacterial front-line pain can also lead to perineal pain, including frequent urination. Your constipation may be related to your work style, such as sedentary, or mental stress. This situation can do slight exercises such as walking, help relax your muscles and promote gastrointestinal peristalsis.

In addition, chronic aseptic prostatitis can also lead to chronic pelvic pain. One third of patients with prostatitis have chronic pelvic pain syndrome, which is related to intestinal flora disorder and immunity decline. Escherichia coli belongs to gram-negative bacteria. Most antibiotics such as penicillin and upgraded streptomycin can not work on it.

But some patients have improved their inflammation after using Chinese herbs such as plantain seeds and Houttuynia cordata. For example, angelica is used to regulate human Qi and blood, which can help to improve the patency of prostatic ducts.

More than 50 kinds of natural plants are made into Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill after strict addition and subtraction, which can enhance the immunity of patients, protect the normal flora of human body from destruction, promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, and excrete toxins through sweat, urine, intestine, etc. It is especially suitable for chronic prostatitis patients who have not been cured for more than 2 years.

Many thanks for your thoughtful and knowledgeable reply Charlotte

My current symptoms are – scrotal inflammation, some urinary urgency and quite difficult rather burning defecation – peeing isn’t that bad, I never have to get up in the night, the stream isn’t brilliant but it’s ok – and I never feel urination has been incomplete. I really haven't got any perianal pain I'm glad to say.

I wouldn't say I was constipated at the moment, I've just gone 3 days in a row - I've started taking a dietary fibre "Fruits and Fibres" supplement in a cube; but the defecation is difficult and a bit painful; I don't like forcing things because of the damage that can do. It seems like a vicious circle - the prostate inflammation - I think - makes defecation difficult and rather burning and that irritates the prostate back all over again

The consultant urologist wrote that "the prostate itself is not particularly enlarged at around 40g and non tender”

He advises “pelvic floor relaxation therapy” – which I am none too sure about .

My current protocol that I’ve adopted is as follows

1) Back on the candida diet – loads of greens

2) Taking saw palmetto and quercetin twice a day; omega 3, zinc

3) Acupuncture sessions

4) 10g of amitriptyline as well – habit I suppose and it is good at getting me off to sleep

5) Probiotics of course for the intestinal flora

I am very wary of anti-biotics because they have caused me terrible problems in the past, and have been on anti-fungal supplements last year

5) I’m trying to be as active as I can; some walking, gardening - I realise now the importance of getting moving - I have been very sedentary and the mental stress has been very great

Many thanks for the advice on the Chinese herbs; I will most certainly explore this avenue

Best Regards!

Your several therapies are healthier, probiotics and acupuncture are also very good, adhere to wake up every morning with an empty cup of warm water, I believe there will be a good improvement, drink more interesting people to get along, maintain peace of mind, good luck.
