in addition to the words of Shaunwood you can sometimes get a little relief using some external warmth from a warm hot water bottle or bean bag that goes in the microwave. Oil of cloves is an old fashioned remedy and can be rubbed on the area directly, I don't know if you can still get it but the pharmacist may help. I cannot imagine that oil of cloves would be contra indicated for PBC but you may want to ask the dentist before using.

I was at the dentist yesterday for a deep clean, I am taking paracetamol but it did not touch the pain yesterday once the injections had worn off. Better this morning though.

Have you an appointment with the dentist to help you?

If it is a short term, like a few days, it's OK. But, if you planned taking it every day for several weeks, you should find an alternative plan.

This should be fine. Good luck!

I sympathise with the wisdom tooth pain, none of mine have come through properly and I’m too scared to have them removed!I’m allergic to paracetamol so I have to take ibuprofen instead, I only have enough to take the edge off the pain and don’t take them for longer than a couple of days if I can help it. I hope you feel better soon x

Prior to diagnosis I use to take NSAIDS (ibuprofen) and once diagnosed was told not to take them anymore and instead take another pain reliever, like Tylenol. Tylenol is generally used/prescribed for tooth pain anyways, so if it works for you, that would be your more liver friendly option.

Hi I can’t seem to find this Tylenol where can I buy it from please ? X

Sorry, Tylenol is a brand name...very popular in Canada and the USA. Perhaps where you live doesn't sell this brand, but the active, pain relieving ingredient is Acetaminophen, so no doubt where you live will sell a product with Acetaminophen.

I have understood different ibuprofen filters mainly through kidney and tylenol through the liver and pbc is about the liver. My doctor said it was ok for me to take 1 advil a day if I need it but never take tylenol. I want to ask if anyone have taken the covid 19 vaccine with having pbc. Thanks recipe

Most specialists recommend against use of all NSAIDS, of which Advil/all products with ibuprofen are.

"NSAIDs may be tolerated in patients with mild chronic liver disease, but they should be avoided in all patients with cirrhosis because of the increased risk of hepatorenal syndrome and the dire consequences relating to this complication." "Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are best avoided because of risk of renal impairment, hepatorenal syndrome, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage"

Hi, I agree with what you said and it makes it hard to know what to take when you are in pain because I have had back surgery and needed some help with pain . Thanks

I totally get it. I have pretty severe joint/muscle pain and prior to diagnosis was on a prescription NASAID (meloxicam) and it really helped. Then I could not longer take it after diagnosis and was initially told to take nothing. The pain is often intolerable and really effects my quality of life. I was then told I could take a lower dose of Paracetamol/acetaminophen, but at the low dose recommended it did absolutely nothing. All my inflammatory markers in my blood labs are elevated. I was then referred to a doctor that specializes in CBD oil and have been prescribed that. I just got it and will be started a loading dose schedule and see how that goes.

Hi, so glad you told me about CBD. I have been wanting to try it but just didn't know. If you will let me know how it does and how it affects your liver.
