Colestid

I am taking one sachet of Questran or Colestid powder (containing colestyramine or colestipol hydrochloride respectively) per day to control suspected bile acid malabsorption (I have a cooperative doctor - but I haven't been tested for BAM) and therefore IBS D - and with some success.

Are you meant to take ibuprofen with pbc I’m currently on urso and colestid powders and antihistamine? Thanks in advance sherrie

I’ve recently started taking new medication colestid for itching so not sure if due to that . I was due to see consultant in April but they have cancelled my appointment to June but I can’t make that date so gonna be even longer .

I have been back to see my go today and he has started me on this new medication to help with itching , as anyone else used this ?

COLESTID.

Is anyone here in the UK getting Colestid granules (not orange powder) on prescription at the minute? My local pharmacy hasn't been able to get any for a few months and I'm wondering if it's a general supply problem. I am sick of the orange.

I am on Colestid for bile salt malabsorption. Can this affect my kidneys - ckd stage 3 fr49.

Similar agents such as colestipol (COLESTID) and cholesevelam (WELCHOL) may have the same effect, although there is not as much evidence for this. We recommend separating all of these medications, known as “bile acid binders,” from the taking of levothyroxine by at least four to six hours.
