Hello
I was diagnosed in 2017, good responder to URSO but lately high ALT and AST ( 103, 135). All indicators are negative to AIH, next step a biopsy.
Has anyone this situation?
Thanks for the answers

Ritarobain,
Welcome to pbc site. I was diagnosed 20 years ago. I take ursodoil. Still have high enzymes and a slowly deteriorating biliary system. Symptom free except for itching that started last year although my gi won’t attribute the itching I have to pbc. Dermatologist diagnosed my itching as dermatitis. I too have high enzymes. I have a question, what is AIH and why do you need a biopsy if you’ve already been diagnosed?

Hi. AIH is Autoimmune Hepatitis. It is not contagious. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
I have the same and was diagnosed with PBC 10 years ago and then AIH through a biopsy a little over a year ago. I am on Imuran and Prednisone still. My AST and ALT recently spiked. It could have been a number of things, but we think mostly stress is responsible. I have been told that these 2 can bounce around quite a bit and to keep an eye on the trend of the numbers over the long term.
