Hi everyone,

I'm just curious, do any of you take vitamins? I take 10,000 iu of Vit D3 with 250 mg of Magnesium (was told we need magnesium to absorb Vit D), Iron with B6, B12 and C (all one pill). I take my iron pill at night time as you cannot take magnesium with iron. (So much to remember) My anemia is getting much better too since I've been doing this.

Anyways, just wondering about others who take vitamins here.

I take Higher Nature multi vitamin without iron. I have a vitamin D+K spray. I am prescribed vitamin B12 (for pernicious anaemia) which I supplement with self injections, 8 weekly from the NHS is too long. I have a water filter which has magnesium in the filter and I have a diet rich in vegetables, some fruit, more chicken and fish and rarely red meat but plenty of eggs.

I found a vitamin with Vit C, B6, B12 and iron. My studying revealed we must have the 3 in order to absorb iron. I had no clue nor did my dr. It is called iron plus by pure micronutrients company. Astounding what we find on our own that docs do not know.

I had been told that iron was not good for the liver which is why I chose a multi vitamin without iron especially as I am not anaemic and am past menopause age. Just having a quick look on google it can cause liver toxicity but I suspect you would have to have a lot of iron for that to happen. Totally agree donna01 without the internet and being able to research for ourselves we would be a lot worse off. :-)

My liver doc said take iron.... who knows

I think the advice can’t be generic across the board. Your doctor knows your needs specific to your liver especially if they specialize in the liver.

Hi donna.

I’m taking vitD pearl 50000iu weekly and ca+mg as one pill with every meal (3times).

Hi Donna, I take Vitamin B12 injections for pernicious anaemia (had one today at drs with a pneumonia vaccine in the other arm!) I take oral spray vit D, (and therapeutic doses of UVB lamp -2 mins every other day) capsules vit K2-7 All these approved or prescribed by my doctor. I find that I need to drink more water when having supplement vit D than just having UVB lamp. Mostly I hope a varied diet is giving me what I need. Like butterflyEi, specialist advised me to avoid supplements with iron or copper in as they'd build up and my liver can't deal with that at my age. Good that your anaemia's getting better. I hope you're feeling much stronger for that.

I take a multi vitamin for women (Centrum), Wild Alaskan Salmon fish oil capsules, Caltrate, and Vitamin D 2,000 iu's daily. I also drink kombucha for probiotic benefits or have yogurt or miso soup. I cleared it with my hepatologist on all the supplements including the organic kombucha which I brew myself.

In theory, I take the multi vitamin and fish oil as "insurance" in case I don't get all the nutrients from my diet which is quite clean. I need caltrate and vitamin D mainly.

Ok. Thx. I don’t take B12...my annual physical blood test showed it +1 higher than normal range. So I have adequate levels.

I started taking all my nutrients in stand alone form years ago. I like being able to control the dosages. This gives me the ability to space them out over the course of the day too. What I like best about this approach is that I can buy products that have limited to no fillers or other things that will cause me problems. Yes, it is a lot of work, but seems to be worth the effort. I take Vitamin A, C, D3, E, K, B complex, B17, magnesium, calcium, milk thistle and Livaplex, plus fish oil. I also use a powdered greens drink, electrolyte powder, and Isotonic powder...We all need to find our own personal balance. Be well

I take vitamin D, calcium, vitamin K, and magnesium. I also take iron for anemia and was told to take it separately from other supplements, especially calcium and magnesium, due to absorption issues. My hepatologist said the iron was needed and fine for me since my liver function is good. I assume everyone is different when it comes to this. It may not have been recommended if I was in a more advanced stage.
