vitamin D K2 & calcium
I also have osteopenia, my G.P prescribed Adcal D3, a chewable tablet which is vitamin d and calcium, I take it twice per day. Maybe ask your GP
I use a BetterYou vitamin D3000 + K spray. Apparently K is needed for the better uptake of vitamin D. I source this spray from Bodykind but it is also available in Holland and Barrett.
I take 1 tablet once a week 10,000 Unit vitamin D I buy on line from Sunvit-D3 they are much cheaper. Recommended by my nurse practitioner. Check though your calcium levels as too much calcium is bad for your bones. I also have Osteopenia
Hi there
This is the vitamin D spray I was recommended when I was diagnosed with osteopenia a few years ago. You spray it in your mouth onto the inside of your cheek. My vitamin D levels have been consistently good in my 6 monthly blood tests ever since, and natural vitamin D from the sunshine whenever possible. I am 53 and I was diagnosed two months ago with PBC and there is a link between the osteopenia and PBC. You can buy the spray easily online. Hope this helps.
It’s interesting here the responses to your original post are people with PBC and osteopenia possibly. My Gastroenterologist said autoimmune diseases such as those two are likely to be combined, also I have been tested for Coeliac’s disease and an under active thyroid (both negative).
I have osteopenia and PBC and have Adcal D on prescription from my doctor. They are chewable tablets in a fruit flavour and I take 2 a day. (Note - if you also take thyroxine you have to wait 4 hrs after taking it before taking the calcium supplement) I have a bone scan next week so fingers crossed the supplement is still working!
i was given some interesting advice about Vitamin D Supplements by a performance and longevity researcher who’s conducting a study I’m in. First, Vitamins K and D are fat soluble. If they are not delivered in a capsule with oil, like vitamin E or fish oil, you should take it with a little fat or you might as well throw it away. Second, if you have trouble sleeping through the night taking the Vitamin D at night may help with that.
