Vitamin Supplements?

Does anyone take vitamin supplements? If so, which ones. My GP doesn't seem to think this is necessary but keep reading that PBC sufferers may benefit from this.

Hi I take ADCAL-D3because i my body does not retain vitamin D anymore but this is identified through having a blood test. Hope this helps

Hi I take CO enzyme Q10 and it does seem to help. I do notice if I run out. Started with a low dose but get best results from 60mg or more. Rheumatologist told me to take ginko and ginger for the Raynauds. Get best results by drinking ginger beer!! Cheaper than supplements.

Have run it past the Gastroenterologist who is quite happy for me to take the co enzyme Q10. He said that there is some thought it might help but he was uncertain but that he had no objection to me taking it.

Personally I think you have to be careful what you do take as some of them are actually bad for the liver and we dont want it to have to cope with more than it has to.

I take the adcal d3 and iron tablets as directed by my GP.

Thanks, everyone. Will hang back until I next see consultant.

my gp wants me to take a multi-vitamin AND a liver detox -- i take the detox, but the 4 capsule multi-vitamin makes me need to throw up -- so i am just taking Vitamin D as my D level is practically non-existant --

Could you please tell me the name of the liver detox?

Thank you.

I also heard that it may be beneficial to take vitamin supplements, so I started taking them at the beginning of January (just a generic multivitamin tablet from the chemist). I don't know whether it's the placebo effect, but I am feeling less tired and better able to concentrate. I'd be interested in what your consultant has to say though. I think it's harder for people with liver problems to absorb certain vitamins such as Vitamin D and K, but I heard too much Vitamin A can damage the liver. I only see my consultant for 10 minutes every year, so forgot to ask at my last appointment.

I have vitamin D deficiency but don't take them as they make me want to be sick, same with calcium and folic acid, all three were prescribed for me and I was told that I had not to buy anything over the counter without my GP's knowledge, but I will admit to buying Andrews as it makes me feel better.

I have taken a multi-vitamin for probably 13yrs. I was anemic, and my bood count has never been low since. I take acidopholis, mag, biotin, calcium and vitamine D. Have even taken prescription Vit D and it is still low. I wish i knew what my vit K level is. I was told by my GI not to take too much Vit A.
