Sore and stiff- especially knees

Hi all- happy holidays! I've begun to have very sore joints and stiff muscles as if I'm 100 years old! It comes and goes, but lately my knees are so painful especially when bending them to sit or stand. Any suggestions on what I can do to alleviate this? Thank you all!

Hi BskHB

I wonder if you have been eating some foods that are inflammatory especially through the holiday season. I find I get very stiff after sitting a while and take some time to get going again when I stand however my joints seem more painful after citrus fruit or tomato.

Hope this of some use

best wishes

Unfortunately this is due to to PBC. I was in ER last week with terrible pain in ny left leg and drs thought I had blood clots but ultra sound revealed sciatica nerve it was horrible. PBC can cause knee pain and stiffness I use knee pads when they get to bad and heat pads for leg and back pain. They gave me flexiral for my pain but I don't like that drug although they say safe for the liver it just makes me very very sleepy lol so I take my tylenol liquid for children. I also suffer from a lot of itchinh and take benadryl liquid for children at night to calm my itching. I was told by my hepatolist to try Sarna lotion and so far it's helping some. I hope your pain gets better soon!

Are you taking Urso? Possible side effect

It could also be from low vitamin D. Mention this to your healthcare team. I felt like I was having the worst flu bug ever, but no fever. I hurt from head to toe due to how low my vitamin D was. Most likely they'll have you take around 50,000 units of vitamin D weekly. It helps tons!!! Best of luck & pray you find answers.

How long have you had PBC that it has progressed so far?? I am 62 and stage 2 PBC AIH. Was diagnosed with AIH I. 2004 by biopsy. PBC this past June by liver biopsy and high ALP. On URSO since August but have to have bloodwork to see if it is working. Miracle that my biopsy did not change in 14 years. Hope they are right. I stayed away from doctors for 9 years. Stress was doing me more harm. I was fine until this past June. Now anxiety is back!!

I was diagnosed in August of 2012 at end stage 2. I went without treatment for around 18 months due to a mix up with my insurance. I had no insurance & was having a difficult time getting it back. By the time I was back on my insurance I had progressed rather fast to stage 4 with the varicies & cirrhosis. The Urso wasn't working on its own this time around so I was referred to IU medical hospital to a heptologist who started me on the Ocaliva plus the Urso. Which seems to be working great so far. Plus I take Lasix to help avoid any more bandings or blood transfusion. I was really sick for around three years. Now my healthcare team seems to have it figured out to where I'm considered stabilized

But we never know when things will go all crazy with this disease. It's so different for each of us

I am so glad that things are better. I dont plan on a future much. I got lucky for 14 years. I have no insurance at my job. My husband still works for my health insurance. We you not able to get disability? I pray that you stay well. I hate this!!

I have my hearing date of Feb 12th for disability. It'll be up to the judge. I have a great team of lawyers that seem to think I'm a great candidate for receiving disability. Praying for things to fall in my favor for once. Plus my eldest daughter should get a little back pay since she was a dependent when I first filed. I've been fighting this for close to three years now. Then my youngest will get a monthly check as well since she's only 10

Wow. It us so unfair. I do workers comp. So many people on disability that should not be. There should be no question with certain illnesses. The system is terrible. I am in the US. Assume you are too. Wishing you the best of luck. Judges what do they know. I have seen it first hand.

I have been experiencing a lot more pain these last few months. Idk if it's from my joints, muscles or both. How can we tell? Seems like it hurts from my hips down and now I'm having stiffness in my neck and upper back/shoulders. Praying someone would have answers.
