hi I have pbc crossed with aih , with cirrhosis On all the usual meds .

I suffer with cramp/ achy muscles in my thighs and calves . Lying in bed now and I can feel them aching . I don’t need to have done any activity for this to happen

I always forget to mention this at my appointment

Does anyone else suffer this or any ideas why it happens or any solutions

Thanks

I did.. know how much that can hurt. I take a medication called Gabapentin for the nerve pain. Seems to help..

I rub BetterYou's magnesium body lotion into my legs at night, it has helped to slow down restless legs. I used to have the occasional cramp but I have not experienced that since using magnesium at night.

Before my diagnosis of pernicious anaemia I used to have what I described as tired legs, it was hard to get them going and they did ache however I believe that pain is beginning to be recognised as a symptom of PBC.

Hope this is of some help to you.

yep I have the same issue luckily I don’t have the crossover but PBC has been with me for 15 years at least. My right leg is worse with the ache which is with me every day I do some stretches which helps rather than take pain killers. As the pain seems more muscular than bone pain! Like you I forget to mention it to my consultant. I might try magnesium as mentioned by butterflyEi.

Hi She-66

Although I don't have AIH, I have had PBC for 20 years with cirrhosis for at least the past 10 years. I have the same problem with aching legs particularly thighs and as you mention, this can occur without activity. It is also a completely different issue to restless legs.

I ride an exercise bike and do yoga both of which help a bit but I have certainly found it an uncomfortable problem that has bothered me for years now. Flexing them helps a bit too but I'm sorry I have no other advice and I think my specialist feels it's just another PBC complication particularly for those of us with cirrhosis.

I feel you !

Best wishes
