Hi everyone. I had AMA and ANA test 10days ago with titer of 1:320 for AMA and 1:640 for ANA, but my rheumatologist Dr wanted to redo them in another labratory. The results came back completely different!! AMA :1:20( more than 1:10 is considered positive) and ANA 1/80!!

I’m confused, do I have pbc?Can anyone help ?

LFT: ast:83, alt:103, alp:265

So a high alk phos & ggt means you do have liver issues. Think your doctor has to look at biopsy to determine the actual cause.

Thank you for taking your time for responding to me. Yes I did biopsy 5-6days ago and stressfully awaiting diagnosis. I want my health back😭😭😭 praying for a miracle

There is something going on with your liver so the biopsy will hopefully tell you what that is. Since you don’t have symptoms, your doctors caught this early & if you are responsive to meds, urso if you have pbc, you will be okay. Pbc is a slow progressing condition & you just have to take the meds to slow down the condition. Don’t worry until you speak to the doctor.

I don’t have any symptoms but dry eye. My mom had lupus

Might not need biopsy if your numbers fall in with below criteria. Info below is from a pbc research paper.

Diagnostic Approach

The diagnosis of PBC is generally based on the presence of at least two of the following criteria:

a) Biochemical evidence of cholestasis with elevation of ALP activity;

b) Presence of AMA;

c) Histopathologic evidence of nonsuppurative cholangitis and destruction of small or medium-

sized bile ducts if a biopsy is performed.

The differential diagnosis includes a cholestatic drug reaction, biliary obstruction, sarcoidosis, AIH, and primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Please get all your test results & ask to see a hepatologist who can help sort this out for you.

Many many thanks for your guidance ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You’re completely right I must have redo the LFT too.

They did the biopsy because of high titer ANA and family history of lupus in my mom which make them think of probable AIH.

My husband and I are now so upset. We’re just newly married and had lots of things to do with each other, but now....

You caught this early. Most likely you will respond to meds & you will be fine. Just more monitoring of labs by doctor & taking your meds daily. Don’t worry too much. Your doctor will help you & it will be okay. You just plan on doing all those things with your husband.
