Gallbladder-esque Symptoms

I was diagnosed either early stage,PBC about a year ago. On Urso plus take a number of supplements like turmeric, Vitamins D and K. Take tiny dose of Doxiepin nightly for itching and sleep. Among other meds for various ailments.

ANYway, has anyone here experienced gallbladder problems along with PBC? I'm on Week 3 of upper-right quadrant back/shoulder/ribcage pain; reflux despite daily Protonix; intermittent nausea; and (forgive TMI) clay-colored stools. Am between internists right now, and contemplating calling my gastro who diagnosed me. I have fibromyalgia (diagnosed 2008), so I don't always trust pain, if that makes sense. Oh, also, I am exhausted, even more than usual.

Thanks for listening and for any experience you are willing and share.

Hi Sharonis, so is the gastric stuff related to PBC? It seems lots of people get this. Or is it from meds? Poor you!

Hi, HastingsGal! Thanks for the reply. I am at a loss to answer your question, which clarifies what I need to do... I do have PBC, but...who knows? Guess it's time to see the gastroenterologist again. It came on rather suddenly and has persisted. Can't recall anything unusual triggering it. I should eat better, of course. Sympathy appreciated! Hope you're okay?

Hi I have developed Gall stones it seems strange as Urso which I have been taking for around 10 years is prescribed not only for PBC but to dispel Gall Stones! It is hard to understand what ailments are linked to PBC I seem to blame everything on it. I am lucky still stage one after diagnosis 10 years ago. Eat healthy, exercise a bit and only have an occasional drink. Life is for living I will be 70 in December and intend to make the most of life in between the lethargic attacks. There are some really poorly PBCers out there which I hope get the medical help they need. All down to luck of the medical team

Hi Sharonis,

I had significant gallstone symptoms for about 9 years before PBC diagnosis. They showed up in an ultrasound of my gallbladder. It was full. Had periodic episodes with vomiting and toxicity but the blocking stone would always resolve itself. I did some gallstone cleanses that helped with migraines, but don't recommend doing those until you're checked out. I continued to form stones while on Urso for 8 years. Finally had my gall bladder removed 1.5 years ago.

My sisters-in-law had stones blocking the main duct that wouldn't resolve and had to have surgery immediately. My understanding is that when gallstones block a duct for a while, even if not completely, the tissue around it begins to die. I recommend that you get checked out.

For general gallstone symptoms. I recommend Swedish Bitters.

You have my empathy, gallstone pain is horrible.

Hi Lizzy1313,

I am considering doing a liver/gallstone flush. Do you know what kind of check out I need to do prior to the cleanse?

Thanks,

Jane

Hi Janelng,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I read the amazing gallbladder flush because I was having painful gall bladder symptoms and really bad migraines. I couldn't drive on the highway without throwing up.

My naturopath was fine with me doing it. I did not check with my MD, as he had told me to stay away from natural remedies and was very negative about them. For me it worked out well. I'd say trust yourself about who you consult. My MD has since changed his mind and is very interested in the options I share with him.

About the flush....I took stonebreaker tincture in water every day. At the end of each month for 6 months I did a flush. First day, eat lightly. Second day colonics to empty intestines, that night, flush per instructions in book. I used magnesium citrate because the over the counter laxative made me feel crazy sick. Next morning stones come out (supposedly from gall bladder and liver). Some of mine were the size of large marbles! That afternoon colonics again to clean out residual. I did that each month for 6 months. I was feeling really sick and miserable so it was worth it. Felt so much better afterwards. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi Sharonis, stop taking Tumeric! I can eat a curry but Tumeric pills are a no no for me, I feel like you do when I have Tumeric.
