I was diagnosed last year with PBC and last November had infection in gallbladder prompting consultant to refer me for op to remove it. Just wondering if anyone has had gallbladder removed and was it done keyhole even with PBC?
Thanks 😬

I stayed in for 1 night ...and rested at home for 4 days , was out shopping and driving my car on day 6!! But the Dr was very annoyed with me lol...but I felt fine 😁 x
I had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery in March 2016. I was home the same day. I did not recover as quickly as the other people that posted. It was only as a result of blood test before and after the op that I was discovered to have pbc. The Consultant said that it was likely that the pbc had caused an infection in my gallbladder. However I am thankful for having the operation as it has meant that since diagnosis I have been able to try to make myself feel better by changing my diet, doing more exercise and attempting to reduce my stress levels.
Allow yourself time to recover after the operation and hopefully you will soon feel much better for the removal.
Hope it all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.
Hi Jemiola, I had gallstones and gallbladder removed by keyhole as well. I had had pain etc for about 6 months. The surgeon said it was the worst he'd treated. As they couldn't get all the stones I had to return as a day patient for another keyhole. First time I was in for 4 days, same day for 2nd. Pbc found about 7 years later but consultant said the infection was probably the trigger for pbc . I know they seem to think pbc is probably genetic and triggered by an infection, so I've always thought that's what set mine off.
Good luck with your op starfish 72. Hope you feel better.x
There does seem to be for some people a link with gallbladder problems. It did take me a while to recover after the op, which seemed to be at odds with other people who had the surgery and were up and about quickly.Prior to my op I had got used to feeling exhausted and generally unwell. The pbc was a surprise diagnosis but in a way forced me to make some lifestyle changes as I now know looking after myself is a priority. It was a difficult year for me last year and I am still struggling with some things. Life is for living and I am trying hard to remain positive.
I had my gallbladder removed keyhole surgery,Two years ago in June. I had my PBC 12 years as I'm 14 years now diagnosed, having the gallbladder removed was wonderful that dreadful pain left immediately, just wish the bone pain would go too, wishing you all the best starfish 72 . Cat19
I was diagnosed last year at 44 and now I am stage 3. I seem to have a more active PBC and my consultant is trying me on combinations of drugs to control it.
Also did you stay in overnight after gallbladder surgery?
