Cobalin H

Hi there. I have been having weekly B12 injections for about 18 months now. I use Hydroxocobalamin but have found that the acetate base flares up my chronic bladder condition. I recently tried the Cobalin H version and found that, miraculously, I was fine with it! Unfortunately this seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK. Can anyone suggest an alternative that doesn't have an acetate base? I've tried the German varieties and they affect me very badly!

Thank you so much.

My mum's last NHS prescription was cobalin H. So perhaps available again

Or they've bought up the available stock?

You can get the ingredients online if you Google them.

Other brands include

Neo cytamen

Gerot and lannoch.

Accord

That's interesting. Did you go to a large pharmacy? I'm so desperate for this, I wonder if your pharmacy would accept my prescription if I sent it to them? I can't get it anywhere!

Have you asked your pharmacist for it specifically ?They could try and order it in.

I just request it for her.

No particular brand

My mum was just sent it as due.

Has injections at home.

My last NHS one was Neo cytamen .

I'll check the date cobalamin H sent as she's sent a box of 5 each time .

Do check the others though or ask pharmacist to.

If it's the ingredient sodium acetate you need to avoid, it's NOT in Neo Cytamen or Accord.

That's really helpful. Thank you. Are they the same as the Hydroxocobalamin I'm using? Are they just brand names? Sorry for my ignorance! The specialist I'm under only prescribes/knows about one brand. I'm assuming it's the sodium acetate. I'll check the side of the Cobalin H box. I seem to be fine with that.

Yes, both are brand names for hydroxocobalamin. The brands with sodium acetate absolutely burn me when I inject, and the site stays painful for ages. I've never used any of them more than once so don't know how more regular use might affect my whole system, but didn't want to find out!

All ingredients online with each brand of hydroxcobalamin. Only the additives differ slightly

The two links below should find the documents (e.g. Patient Information Leaflets) for all UK approved hydroxocobalamin injections. They include the PL numbers. If two products were the same except for packaging, they will have the same PL number.
